Switch Inhibit Door Lock Option

does anyone know what this Lock option does? It’s under Settings > Vehicle > Locks on a 2016 XSport

I have no idea what that is supposed to do. It doesn't seem to affect the locks or liftgate. Mine is 'Checked' and I know I've turned the reading and maps light ON/OFF.
It just appeared in the 2016 Manual and is also in the 2017 and 2018 Manuals. It doesn't show up any where else in the Manual.

Yeah, the manuals just say enabled or disabled. Weird.

That is exactly what it does although I for one don't understand the reasoning behind it. Why would you want to disable the interior lock button when there is no one in the vehicle? Even if there was someone in the locked vehicle, opening the door would set of the alarm.
I actually tested this. I put the driver's window down and put the keyfob out of range. I got in and reaching out of the window used the Securipad to lock the vehicle. I gave it 2 minutes and then pressed the unlock button on the driver's door and a message popped up in the left information screen saying something to the effect Switch Inhibited.

Given the position of the button and the pressure required to press it that would be quite a feat. It would also trigger that alarm but that would make sense.

It's one of those little zero cost deterrents. No real increase in security, but knocks out one obvious weakness.

Agreed, as long as it is 'Enabled'. The problem is that the Manual doesn't mention what it is for or even address it except in the settings diagram which started this thread in the first place.
