I had one of these go out on me with my previous truck and it's a pretty easy fix. My current truck is having similar issues and I am going to swap out a FPR I have tonight. I am also thinking it is possibly the fuel filter?

My questions is with the following symptoms, do you think I am on track? I know nothing is 100% and you'd might want more info, but this is what I have for symptoms.

- Refuses to cold start (need to put into gear immediately after giving and hold gas to keep from stalling. This problem got worse over the weekend when I drove it 60+ miles one way both to and from a cabin.

- No problem starting once it is warm.

- Will die if I am coasting (foot off the pedal), until it warms up

- It runs rough if I idle in gear at a light. Wants to lurch. But idles better out of gear.

- New symptom is on a cold start if it dies, there is a quick noise from under the hood like pressure being released. May just be related to it dieing while I am give it gas?

- The fuel pump is new, however it has always made a high pitched noise when I stop since then. I can stop it by relieving pressure by loosening the gas cap.

With those symptoms, does anyone have a probable cause?

Thanks in Advance. I'll let you know if the new FPR fixes it.

Could be a loose vacuum line at the vacuum (tree) plenum.

Could be a loose vacuum line at the vacuum (tree) plenum.

While changing FPR, we did notice there appears to be at least one issue with the vacuum lines. There is either one missing  or I am missing some sort of plug (I am not the most mechanical:rolleyes: ) We noticed it and looked at the diagram under the hood and from that, we can't tell where is is suppose to connect to. That's why we think it may be that it is supposed to be plugged. The dumb part is we had the old Explorer there yesterday and we could have just looked at that :D (Now you know what you are dealing with).

I'll try and describe it and maybe someone can tell me. As you look on the main vacuum that is on the right side of the engine block (92 Explorer) there are about 5 connections. Looking at it there are three nearest to the engine block. One is on the side nearest you looking at it, one is on the top and one is on the opposite side. The last one is what I am concerned with. There is that connection, but not hose. Any one know what that one is and where the hose leads to? I'll be searching through the forums and see if I come up with something on my own too and reply if I find what I am looking for. :salute:
