wow... can't believe people... i offer irrefutable proof that this type of software versioning exists. but the funny thing? That you have Cory, the 'Official Ford Rep' say...

I also found out that the newest updates will follow the same numbering system (2.10, 2.11, etc.) like gdecamp said.
Cory

This was in the other post, 'MFT v2.10'

He's a Ford Rep! He checked it out and confirmed it! And you guys are still arguing it? Sheesh.

You're right. No Ford rep has ever given anyone bad information.

He may be correct, but that doesn't make it logical.

It's silly for a software update to go to 2.10 instead of 2.9 or 2.9.5 or what ever. The use of 2.10 is completely illogical if it's meant to supersede 2.8 I don't like it. and....

I'm right. I'm always right. Nanananananaaaaa

;):D;):D:):(:D:D

At least we have something to argue about and distract us from the real problem: WE NEED A SOFTWARE UPDATE!

i respect your other posts throughout the forum...

but are you a software guy? programmer?

I am. decades. seen it all. But I still tried to find a Wiki to back it up instead of saying your wrong. A Ford rep still took the time to put in his two cents and he contributes on this site tremendously... and you poo poo him?!

what software house have you worked for? what are your credentials to say not logical?

I've been looking for one, too. No, I'm not a software guy. Just a geeky nerd that doesn't agree with the logic. That's all.

I'm sure he got it right. I just don't like it. I'm allowed to dislike it.

A release of 3.0 for us all will hopefully put this to bed.

I'd like the whizbang shiny box in my dash to work like I paid for.

P.S. I'm an Apple guy...and someone else suggested we give the updates names like Snowleopard. So far, I'd like to call v2.8 "Rottingcatgut" or "Deadturtle".
:D

Hey Vic,
STFU, Your starting to get stupid with your arguments. Back it up dude or see the first four letters

I'm trying to be respectful, yet not let an obvious mistatement of fact go unnoticed. I find it a little tedious to have to respond to obvious mistatements of fact.

The MFT systems are not "totally different systems" across vehicle platforms. In fact, it is the opposite of that. All MFT systems, regardless of vehicle platform, are running on Microsoft Auto 4.1 OS and same chipsets including Freescale i.MX51 System on Chip and ARM Cortex A8 CPU http://www.arm.com/products/processors/cortex-a/cortex-a8.php

The voice regonition is provided by Nuance, 3200 to be exact http://www.nuance.com/industries/automotive/products/VoCon-3200.asp . The same Bluetooth 2.0 and the same profiles, like A2DTP, AVRCP, HFP for the hand free, and Personal Area Network profile. The versions of code vary to the extent they interface with different vehicle modules and the skin is slightly modified for Lincolns.

Sequenced based version schemes are quite logical as long as you realize the period is not a decimal point.

2.8 is not a whole number and a decimal fraction, but actually two whole numbers separated by a period.

The first whole number signifies the major version of the software and the second whole number signifies the level of revision of the major version.

(Major version).(Minor version)

Lol in mathematics, 2.10 is less than 2.8 of course. But you see, Ford can label it whatever they want. They can call the update version Bob if they wanted to. As long as it's a new update, you should be happy :)

Thank you donm527 for reposting those details here as well. When I saw the other thread I wanted to double check with the SYNC Support team before posting anything for sure and that’s the info that was given to me.

Cory

Since this thread got way off topic and is beating a dead horse, and got the info the OP requested. I"m closing this thread..

To discuss software versions schemes start a new thread in the computer forum.
