Sync and iOS 6

Ok, maybe it is just me, but it seems wrong to quote your own posting in a new one... :D

Nice thread hijack

Yeah, how did incentives get worked in here? LOL :)

OK so back to the topic......we need some of the IT guys on this forum to explain to the rest of us how we can now have text messaging working but no phone contacts and no replying through MFT.

The MAP protocol in Bluetooth, does it have various feature levels?

Given that the iPhone has never had Bluetooth MAP support I'm guessing MFT is not setup to use it when iPhone is connected therefor the reason we can't reply through MFT

I notice with Bluetooth audio streaming you get album art so why no phone book pictures?

Sgt,

I will be using it alot the next couple of days and will report back. the rig is all cleaned up! Sign papers in 2 hours!

When you get a message and want to reply to it, just say "Reply to Message" and you can step through the process.

Have you tried this, Sgt?

My text messaging has actually stopped working.

Upon initial install of iOS6 beta 1 I could receive them through MFT although it showed as being from "unknown". I could have MFT read it to me, and when trying to reply, it said the message was sent, but nothing actually was sent. And again, no photos for contacts or anything.

So I then updated to iOS6 beta 2, still nothing on the text messages. I tried rebooting and repairing everything also.....no go.

My iphone4 on Beta2 still works well...........my kids think its hilarious to text each other some naughty words then play it back over the MFT voice.

Yes, I did try the Voice Command "Reply to Message" but no success.

Like another poster mentioned, MFT says "Message sent successfully" but no message is ever received.

The MFT Text Message Icon is a white envelope next to the signal bar in the phone quadrant. It's the first time I ever seen it.

Im guessing nothing in MFT is setup for iPhone MAP since its never been supported so once IVT has a chance to test we will know more. I hope these enhancements are part of the next upgrade.

Ford should work with those of us on iOS6 to make these things happen on the next upgrade. Rebecca, send the information to those in charge. I am sure there are some on here that would pilot the next upgrade of MFT and also have iOS6.

Sgt, I wouldn't think that MFT has to be coded to work with one phone or the other, but is written to support basic standards. Beyond that, it is my understanding that the phone's firmware/software then determines what features are supported. It would be ponderous at best attempting to code for each phone on the market, regardless of popularity, as the next OS upgrade could break the MFT custom code for that phone. Ford would be in an endless loop of playing catch-up. That is why standards (and everybody's adherance to them) are so important. Problem is, not everyone likes to play nice, lol.

In my limited testing, phones from the same manufacturer have varied amounts of feature support. It is frustrating to say the least. We are now upgrade eligible on our accounts, but are going to wait to see what the next wave of phones and software has to offer. Smartphones are such a pain in the arse! :)

Any way you can speed my upgrade so I can buy a new phone now instead of waiting till next May?

LOL

LOL

Thats something that I can not even do for myself.:(

I don't work in any of those groups that I mentioned that provide services to the consumer, I work in an IDC, so I am limited to only having the ability to do referrals and service escalations on the consumer side.

When I tried the Voice Command "Reply to message"

The response was "There is no number associated with the message so you cannot reply"

So I guess since the incoming messages are not linked yet to the phonebook entries the system can't associated a number to reply to.

If that is true, it makes me wonder if I get a message from someone not in my phonebook, will I not be able to reply to their message? I feel a test coming on...

Thanks for your feedback, RonJrSVCMGR! Our engineers and Apple work together to make both products compatible.

As a side note, I greatly appreciate all of the invaluable information everyone shares; I read all of it and forward it to our engineers for reference. You all do more than you think! ;)
