I changed to mobile one synthetic about 3 months ago. When I did, I ran a engine flush and let drain completely. Since a small oil leak has appeared. Not much hits the floor(a drop or so) just burns off the exhaust manifold.
If I switch back, does anyone know off any problems. I'm hoping it will stop leak.
Has anyone been here?

I run synthetic oil in my cars if I purchase them new or with few miles. I would never convert an older vehicle to synthetic due to oil leaks. I have had friends convert vehicles with over 60K miles and had nothing but leaks.

The bottom line is, your engine seals are old and have shrunk slightly. Synthetic oil flows better than conventional oils and will find every hole that the other oil ignored. In addition, I have been told that synthetic oil changes the sealing ability of old gaskets.

In addition, I would never flush an older engine with an oil cleaner additive unless I had planned to drop the oil pan and clean the oil pick-up screen and oil return passages. Sounds like a good idea but every little bit of sludge and contaminants that have found a home in your engine can possible clog up these crucial passages. Keep an eye on that fake Ford oil pressure gauge!

Regarding switching back. Sure you can! If the leak will stop is unknown to me.

Although flushing an old engine sounds good...the outcome can be the opposite of what you'd expect. My dad flushed his truck engine out once and it ended up costing him a valve job. On older cars engine gunk can be a good thing. The gunk fills small voids that prevent oil from leaking, sort of like little fingers in the dike. And when you remove the "fingers" by flushing out the engine, the oil will leak out. Dead Link Removed
