Hi all. Lately, I am getting the red battery symbol (System Voltage High) while towing. I press reset and the light stays off for 10-15 miles then comes on again. I had both boat and truck harnesses checked and they are good. I just noticed that my rear defog is not working. The dealership tells me it is the connector. I'm waiting on the part. Could these problems be related?

it could be related, but not a typical reason for the high voltage ,,

i think if the voltage is high it would be a regulator problem,, not a trailer wiring issue,,

maybe get the alternator checked too,

Voltage High

Had dealer check both regulator and alternator, no issues...

Do you have LED trailer lights? Those can cause some weird issues :dunno:

Check the trailer for bad/dirty ground wires. High resistant in ground can give problems.

I'm curious about what weird issues LED's can cause? I'm in the process of a PWC trailer renovation at the moment and am replacing all the incandescent lights with new LEDs. The trailer itself will be the ground, earth is achieved when connected to the ball INSTEAD of using the flat 4's white ground wire. From what I understand, its 6 of one, half a dozen of another.

OP - are you using the flat 4 connector or the round 7 pin? Does your trailer have surge brakes? Are you perhaps using a 7 to 4 adapter?
