T-Stat went out?? what do you think?

I think my t-stat went out... its been very hot here the past few days, heat index well above 100... today my X was running very very hot, almost on the line before the H. i almost **** my pants.. lol
i cant think of anything else it could be... fluid levels are all fine, the only thing thats got my wondering is the amount of antifreeze i have in my mixture... i think my mixture is rich of antifreeze... ford recomends no more then 60/40 anti/water... factory is 50/50
What do you all think.. i have no leaks and the overflow is at the cold level when cold..

When my T-Stat goes out I can "play" with the temp gauge. I'm driving and it starts to heat up and so I keep it at freeway speeds with wind flying through the radiator and it can almost keep out of the red but if I hit traffic and have to slow down then it overheats and so I have to shut it off.

If you are messing around with your RPMs while attempting to keep high airflow speeds like that, replace the Tstat now -- Much cheaper than an engine. If that's not it then maybe someone else can help you diagnose.

Change the thermostat first. Cheap and easy insurance.

I'd also look into having your radiator flow tested. I don't know how many miles you have on your X, but after 9 years of use, It may have some buildup in it preventing the coolant from flowing properly.

Yeah ... im having that done today... actually over the next week and a half i told my guy to drive it anywhere i dont care and fix whatever breaks in the process.. lol
im having my:
t-stat replaced first,
if it still runs hot he is going to give me a new radiator
tranny fluid replaced
exhaust rewelded
inspection
tire rotation
oil change
alignment
and anything else that may need to be fixed...

LMAO... i could give a **** less about my X for the next week and a half.. lol

As a side note...i have about 69,000 miles on it
