tailgate swap 97/91

i have a 98 explorer and a 91 explorer can anyone tell me if the tailgate of a 96/97 will fit a 91 regards malc

no the contoures are wrong.

Actually up to a 97 will bolt up & fit. However the wiring for the brake light defroster & wiper will not match up. You can cut & rewire however. The 91 tail lights will have some gap around them from the different taillight cutout. Also, the glass will not match in color, & those are not interchangeable with the different hatches.
Another note, any rear bumper from 91-97 is interchangeable. I have a 97 on my 94.

what about the front bumpers? will aftermarket front bumpers that fit the 2nd generation explorers fit on my 93? that way i could do a bullbar in the front

no the front of the93 is strait the 2nd gen is horned ot t-ed out.

Yeah the front is not interchangeable.
