Tailgate won't unlock from doors or remote

'98 Explorer XLT, the tailgate will only unlock if I hit the unlock button in the way back by the tailgate, it won't unlock from the door unlock button or the remote. Also the glass portion won't unlock... only the main tailgate will unlock when hitting back unlock button. Inserting key won't unlock it either.

Any suggestions?

first step id make sure ure switch isnt bad an then make sure ure getting power to the rear from the front switch an try hitting the unlock from the drivers an pass side if no go id say ya gott a short or a bad switch possibly ....
