I'm tired og the lack of room under the hood while doing work on my 92 ex(ie-tune ups), My a/c doesnt work, the compressor is fried, which is fine because I wouldnt use it anyways. I was wandering if I can take any of the a/c componants out with out any worries, to give me a little more room to work with. It doesnt have any freon left in it either. Thanks in advance!

You can buy a smaller belt and bypass it might free up a few ponies too:D

Do you think the dealership would know which belt to use? Can I take out any other a/c componants??

You can do this yourself MadMike did it a while back on his 92 ex you can take all the rest of the stuff out no problem.Autozone has the belt you need just tell them it is a explorer without A/C:D

oh very cool. Im doing that tomorrow along with the stupid lower intake bolts. Thanks for the advise.

Oh my God a vehicle with out AC ? Not with this kid.

My air cond. went out last week and they wanted $800 for the fix. The compressor locked up. I went to AutoZone and got the belt that's for the Explorer w/o air cond. It did the trick for me by bypassing the compressor. Simple fix for a Explorer that I'm trying to convince myself that it's worth it. I can't seem to drive this vehicle without something else not breaking down. After a transmission re-build the compressor went out 2 week's ago, fixed that now the transmission has developed a bad fluid leak. This latest problem will cost $300 to fix. I like the Explorer but I'm hoping for several thousand miles of trouble free driving. Keeping fingers crossed.

Well, I took out the a/c this weekend. Holy Sh#% batman!! I cant beleive how much more room is under the hood right now! Highly recomended for anyone that doesnt use there a/c, and it is not really difficult either, just time consuming.

Luv2, what the fried compressor the only problem? Or did you have cracked/leaking hoses as well. Im without AC currently and may be interested in buying the hoses/tubes off of you if they work and your not concerned about keeping them. Let me know for sure. Soundguy14@hotmail.com

PS - No AC is pure evil when you live in Texas... dont try it... ever! Haha.
