I want to take both sides off and cut the metal at the bottom of the doors and make a new bottom.

Anyone got pics of them off.

Are you talking about the doors or the trim or...?

My 96 has the factory running boards, and I have taken the right side off for some rust repair. What is your question?

That trim under the door that runs from tire to tire.

Ya I got some rust on the other side. So I want to just remove that stuff and make something that will look good.

On my 98 it has two #2 Philips head screws that are located on the edge of the front wheel well and one screw on back wheel well (you will need to turn the wheel or remove it to get at them). On the front part remove that little fender piece and you should be able to see the double prong clips that hold the rest in place. I think you can slide them out of the trim and leave the clips attached to the car.

Are you trying to remove them to repair/paint underneath or 'shave' them?

For Repair/paint;
Like Willcall said, a screw at each end and clips all along. The 'christmas tree' plugs along the pinch weld at the bottom can be removed easily with needle-nose pliers or gently with side cutters (unless you have a trim-tool). Then the moulding should just slide out (then remove the clips the same as before)

To Shave;
Remove as above than you will need to weld up the holes from the clips.
Or if it is rusty enough to replace them there are a few companies that make replacment panels that come without any holes at all. I buy them from Cross Canada Auto Parts but in the US I only know of LMC Truck.

Here's mine shaved
