I have heard some criticisms about Throttle Body Spacers and I would like to say i do not belive these people. Yesterday i installed a new throttle body spacer for my 1998 sohc explorer and since driving it i have noticed significant power additions the second i put my foot on the gas peddle BAM! im off this is an awosme product.

It's all in your head.

I don't understand why people search and ask about spacers, get multiple negative responses, then go out and buy it?

ROFLMAO!!

Question about it.

I have a 98 SOHC, and have read quite a few things about spacers and am very interested in getting one. What kind did you get and did you do any other mods at the same time. I am not as interested in the power gain, but more so the better gas milage the usually acompanies the power gain.

Poweraid makes them. If someone could show actual dyno results or long-term test on mpg, then it would be worth looking into. I don't think anyone has any hard proof other than testimonials, but that's a perceived gain rather than fact. Not ripping on anyone personally here. I thought Aldive was testing the mpg gain, but haven't seen it in a while.

For as cheap as the spacer would cost an OEM, don't you think they would add to the vehicle to gain the power and fuel increases themselves? OEM's search for anything to improve fuel economy in the order of 0.1MPG +. If these really worked, they would be factory installed.

somewhere on this board is dyno results of a spacer

here is the FACTS about tB spacers

if you have a Carburated engine then YES a TB spacer is a great upgrade

you have an explorer

with EFI

a throttle body spacer will do exactly nothing for you...

lets anaylize what a TB spacer does.

When adding a TB spacer to an engine, all its phyiscally doing is addin an inch or so gap between the throttle and the upperintake. Well... physically the only thing its doing is alowing more time for air to travel between the manifold and the cylinder.

on a Carburated engine the gas/air gets 'that inch' longer worth of time to mix air and fuel.

on a fuel injected engine this is void because the fuel and air dont mix until its already in the cylinder... making the throttle body a fact of nothing.

if your actually considering a throttle body spacer, just send me $150 and ill make the decision for you.
