So now that you've had it for a couple of weeks, what are your thoughts on it still? Amazon has it for $95, which I think is a good deal. The other unit I was looking at was the Garmin Nuvi 205 which is $130. The Garmin maps are $99 to update, so you might as well get a new Tom Tom for that price.

Have you tried tying the Tom Tom to google maps? I just read that this doesn't work as advertised, but it was an older review. You are supposed to be able to plug in a directions from google into the unit and it saves it as a favorite. You have to plug the Tom Tom into the computer to get it to download, but it's a cool feature that I'd like to know if it works or not.

Have you used it as a portable system yet? I know it's got close to 4 hours of battery, I'm wondering if I'll be able to use it as double duty for geocaching.

...I'm at work so I gots to be brief...:hammer:

...I love it...I am out of town working and my ranger threw a code and I had to find a parts store...I did use googlemaps for initial research from my laptop though...My GPS came in handy for not having to try to find directions in a strange town with lot's of dead end roads, hills, and bypass's...:biggthump

...I used it as a portable system today for about 1 1/2 hours, no problem...It says it is suppose to last like 3 1/2 hours...:dunno:...I acidently stumbled on the full GPS Coordinates display somehow today and want to find out how to use that for Offroading and Geocaching...As for the googlemaps, that would be a plus as I use it on my laptop all the time...

...The Tom Tom has a painless usb connection and program so updating and such are easy and they recommend updating monthly...Everything about it has been easy to do out of the box...

...I really do need to get around to reading the directions though...

I'm sold, ordering tomorrow!!!

...Like I said, for the money, I can't be happier...But if you don't like yours, don't blame me..:p:

...I don't see any reason you wouldn't like it...;)

Sounds like it's working great for you, but I'm still holding out for a reasonably priced GPS unit with aux video input. No way I'm using a separate screens for backup cam and GPS.

Just like when I wanted an MP3/remote/aux in head unit. If I just wait a year, they'll be under $100 from a dozen different companies.

....Do you have an update on your purchase and which model/brand did you buy???..

...Btw, I'm in Big Bear today...

I just got it last night, I actually took my kids for a drive, just so I could test it out. I got the same one you got, the 125. It's a nice little unit. I have to go down the hill today, so I will post tomorrow when I get some more time with it.

What are you doing in Big Bear?

...:shifty_ey I heard everyones heading down the hill today, so I'm heading up...:D

..Or, I'm just testing out my GPS...

My mom and stepdad just got me the Garmin Nuvi 765T for my bday.. such a great unit.

The lane assist feature is a nice feature and is EXTREMELY accurate from what I've read.

Also has free lifetime traffic

Well, from my first test last night, it didn't have a gas station that has been here for over 20 years. And it showed a couple of gas stations that aren't there. One that hasn't been a gas station in about 10 years and one place that has never had a gas station. lol.

...Right after I posted this a.m., I left Lake Arrowhead and entered Big Bear City...I was at the gas/subway station and I recieved a popup, "Do you want to avoid unpaved roads?"...I entered yes and it said, "Your starting point is unpaved" :wtf:..So I tried alternate and it mapped a route of 75 miles back down and around the mountain...

...I remapped and the popup came back on,"Do you want to avoid unpaved roads?", I entered no and it was the usual quick trip...

...This is the first error of sorts for me, well, unless you count when I down at the ocean and it maps me to drive on the boardwalk...

...With that free map share, you can edit those gas stations and it will fix it for everyone, I believe...;)

I renamed a couple of streets already. Maybe I'll change my street name to my last name!!!! lol.

...I wonder if someone else does that and has fun doing it..

...Last night I was by the airport and entered 607 Pine Knot for a destination (Jasper's Smokehouse in the village)...

...I could not get it to accept the address..I drove there and it showed up fine on the map...I have never encountered any real problems yet, until I was up there...It's like the Mountain has yet to be mapped with addresses but the streets show up fine on the map...:dunno:

Jasper's is really good. That's about the only place that has sweet tea out here. My family is from Mississippi, and it's pretty damn close to that.

The addresses are way off. It tells me my house is about a half block away from it's actual location. I do like it though, and it pulled the "unpaved road" error with me as well this week.

..Coreman23, now that you've had 2 weeks to play with it, how do you like it???...I am really interested to find out if you have been able to use yours for other places than up on the mountain...

..I just did my first, monthly update and it was worth it...I also got a new Tom-Tom home update to 2.61...

...I did take advantage of other free updates such as voices...I just got eric cartmann as it is R-rated...I also got Darth Vader, but how could I say no when his response is, "Your destination to the dark side has been achieved"...:D

...I just used a couple features I didn't know this unit was capable of...

...The other day I was on a job and the customer gave me a check to a somewhat obscure bank for materials...I figured I would look it up on the net with my phone...I get to the banks site and you must sign in to get branch locations...

...I used the "point of interest" feature on the gps and it showed atm/branches...I figured these would only show generic atm's or only major banks...I was pleasantly surprised that it listed all banks and I was immediately mapped to the closest branch..:biggthump

...I thought I would also try the "point of interest feature for locating somewhere new to eat..What was cool is it had additional features for the search...
1) from my current location
2) along the route
3) or near home

...Again, I thought it would only have major restaurants...It showed me every restaurant around and included their addy's and phone numbers...I have found restaurants I didn't even know were around and i can even search "Steak" or "Ribs" and get several results...:bounce:...These 2 new features I found will get used often...;)

I really like it, I let my Dad borrow it and will probably get one for him for his birthday. I used it in Laughlin two weekends ago and in Palm Springs this past weekend and it performed flawlessly. Searching for points of interest is really easy. For the price, this little device is awesome!!!

I too have those voices, I also downloaded some hick guy that is funny and an old black lady one. You can also make your own voices if you want.

Have you installed the stoplight camera info? I installed it, but haven't been able to find a light with the camera to test it on. There are a bunch in Victorville that I'll go test out when I get a chance.

I will probably make an explorer icon soon. It doesn't look too hard, I'll let you know when it's uploaded.

..."For the price, this little device is awesome!!!.."

...My sentiments exactly ...:biggthump

...I turned on the stop light (aka by me, Red Light Camera) feature before I even started using it...It is another great feature..It does give you a great audible before you reach the intersections that do have these lights...

...I have noticed a few corners where it would sound off and there was no camera,(I know these cameras had been removed), or a few corners where it didn't sound off and there were these camera's..That is why it is again, so important to take advantage of the free monthly updates..

...Victorville.....They have a bunch of these cameras...:thumbdwn:
