sorry what i ment by tearing the center out is that the clutch is 2 peices and those springs are what transfer power between the 2 peices. This is the 2nd time ive broken the springs out of there causing no forward or rearward movement. I'll get pictures tomarrow

I've seen this before but only in high performance racing applications. When you're replacing the clutch disc, are you replacing everything else (pressure plate, t/o bearing, slave cylinder, etc.)? Also, has the flywheel been resurfaced or replaced? Sounds like some of those previously mentioned bits and pieces aren't 'playing' well together.

My old 5 speed Bronco II did that. Right after a new clutch was installed. The teeth snapped off. It wasn't installed correctly I was told. The shop replaced it again & all was well with it.

ok i got it back together. Last time i put a clutch in it i didnt resurface the flywheel and had some back cases of chatter, so im thinking thats what did it in this time. but i got the flywheel resurfaced and it drives like a dream. and yes i always reaplace every thing.
