Tell me the best way to fix my problem. Money is of no concern. (Electrical Issues)

Well that ends that question tree lol.

I'll probably get to it more like Wednesday or so, schedule at work keeps trying.

Most caps made 10 years ago were ALL made by the SAME company, but relabeled to sell at the individual companies price point. Things are a bit different now, but I think those caps should be more then enough for you...if you don't run more than 3000W.

looks like i blew my alt today!!! lol

i still need to look it over to be sure its the alt, but yea....started it up this morning and cranked up the heater and noticed my voltage dropped wayyyy down so i was like WTF?!? even with nothing on in the car and the engine running im getting nothing from the alt. so not cool.

Lol, my idle is jumping around some and my volt gauge was moving like a hair width's. My vehicle has 280k or so miles on it and I've never cleaned teh sensors. I think before the Big 3 it's gonne be an afternoon of cleaning every sensor I can lol.

my idle improved greatly after my last tune up.

new plugs/wires. seafoam. oil flush+ mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30. cleaned my k&n air filter. cleaned my maf. i have a new iac but if your its old take it off and soak the inside with some pb blaster to free it up so it can move more accurately, you will need a new gasket i think.

so i just stopped by NAPA to have them check my alt, i happened to show up right as one of the guys is locking the front doors to close up, he was nice enough to open the door back up for me and test my alt.

so he gets the thing strapped down and hooked up, trys to get the machine to test it, it keeps terminating the test for whatever reason so he says F*&# this, goes in the back room and grabs me another one right out of the box and puts mine in the box and gives me the new one! its just another reman one, but whatever it gets me back on the road for right now.

idk if thats typical NAPA or not but they have always done me right and tonight made me feel a heck of alot better for choosing them over advance.

fyi, as he was swapping the pully from my alt to the new one he did mention that the remans do this sort of thing very often and that its worth paying the extra $30 for a brand new one. something i with i had done, i dont trust this alt now.

Jrowe, if you can save up some cash, I can definately recommend my alt. Well, not MINE, but one just like it.

what alt do you have

Of course, I only have 11 months on it, but it's workin fine. They are a supplier of alts for the auto makers. The guy I talked to said that the manufacturers spec the alts to have JUST enough parts to get the job done. They have to make them for the manufacturers, the way they are told to. However, they can make them as good as they can be made for sale to you, and I. Meaning, the manufacturer might spec them to have one rectifier diode, only (to save on cost). That could be why my factory alt bit the dust after 3 years! They, on the other hand, use SIXdiode rectifiers!! This spreads out the electrical load, and therefor heat, as well. And, as a maunufacturer of alts (not a rebuilder) they use ALL NEW parts, including the housing!

I think I paid something along the lines of $385. Like I said, start saving your money. Mow some yards, clean gutters, whatever it takes. Mechman alts are the same cost, so, either way, they aren't cheap.
