Texans to The Slabs Jan 27th,28th...Now with Link of writeup from 4wheelparts

We can make it back to Eagle Rock come to think of it now. There was a stock Nissan with like bald AT's that made it back there last time we were there. However they got into the river by jumping the barrier on the bridge. Not sure how legal that is but we can make it there with no hydro-lock issues.

Everytime I see that pic I get the pinging of sonar in my head.... :)

Kieth I cant agree more! I think we should at least plan on going and going to eagle rock. I think that if we puch it to far past that then we will run into the sinking of exploders (sinjin). I know we can have a fun weekend just playing around eagle rock, camping, camp fire, drinky drinky, and hangin with the http://www.explorer4x4 crew. I am going dangit. I have been under the hood of this darn truck everyday for a week getting it ready so blah blah blah! Replaced transmission cooler hoses, installed tow hooks, bought explorer tent, bought 35" spare tire, bought Surco safari rack, bought another tow strap, changed my rims to a better fitting rim, installed fire extinguisher, etc. Keep high spirits we will be able to make this happen.

The weather is actually starting to look better for us guys! (knock on wood) The weather channel link says that the chance of rain has moved to Sunday, and a high temp in the 60's. The weather here right now is bright and sunny, hopefully that will help the water recede. I just dont want everyone to get down here and not be able to hit the trails, that would be twice I would ruin a trip. ;)

Sounds like god wants us to go wheeling!!

Hey! Just thought you guys might want to see my new explorer tent! If you go to the modified forum, you will see my post about the tent and my fire extinguisher. We will be wheeling this weekend! Hey JMoran, did you get my fax that I sent you?

Since everything is looking like a go for the trip, I will start the food list. I have lots of paper products left from the last trip, so those will be coming. I don't have a good cooler so I'll have to not bring food, so I'll also bring buns/chips for burgers on saturday night.

I'll take the hamburger patties and hotdogs.
Someone should bring firewood this time, I remember the walks we had to take last time. ;)

I can bring a cooler... Stocked with Soda........

What kind of chips do you guys like I can bring a couple of bags. Or any other kind of snacks that you might want.

Alright I'm in if I can get my hooks on in my time. I'm going to leave around late afternoonish though so I can get to the airport to meet everyone. Let me know if you want me to bring anything, need my card table again?

One bad thing about the internet: Too impersonal

One good thing about the internet: Deleting your post

If anyone got a whiff of my reply to Gerald I did not mean any disrespect. In this medium it definitely is important to communicate clearly (which I should do better) and to not make assumptions. I hate it when others make assumptions and I try hard not to do the same. When it comes to the subject matter and relationships of and in this website, it probably is easier for some of you to distinguish each other's characters and idiosyncrasies. But not true for everyone. As someone who is a "newcomer" to offroading and exploring this site (which is of tremendous value) as an avenue into this sport I am impressed with the level of preparedness, caution and professionalism that stands out as I search (as applies to offroading). Gerald you definitely have done us all a service taking the time to compile a lot of good information. I can understand why someone who does not bother to equally put in effort and come prepared would anger you.

Of course none of you know me and you'll have to trust me on this, I do have common sense. I agree to complying with the rules of any sport wheather written or understood becuase the last thing I would want to do is either put my life or someone else's in j##pardy (nor their fun time) :)

I am buying a CB tomorrow and I dont want to skimp. I work next to a CB shop so I am getting a good CB but the only problem is that a good CB is bigger than those digital CB's that you can cram anywhere. I need some help on where to mount it. I have seen the pics of that one guys decked out information station but I have a 5spd and I have switches mounted on the ash tray. Any help is appreciated.

Here is the list so far of who is bringing what:

Sinjin-Hamburger patties, and hotdogs
Brian-Lunchmeat, cheese, mustard, mayo, ketchup
Micheal-Plastic ware, Bread, Hotdog & Hamburger Buns
Kris-Sodas,
Kieth-Card table, let me know what else
JMoran-Chips, Snacks
Gerald-If goes, ????????

This is just a start! And of course it is BYOB for those whom drink. Let me know if anything needs to be added to someones name. I also think that everyone should show up with there own trash bags to clean up while we are there.

I'm still working on it. Besides, gotta meet Jeff now :D
I sent him an email last night apologizing for being too harsh and I see we've both edited our posts :). It's a friendly neighborhood again. :bounce:

Yep, she's in there

Piece of cake one or two hour job install just like advertised! :smoke:

I managed to complete it in only 4 hours and 45 minutes. :D

I may declare a holiday and come down. However I haven't set up with any of the hotel bunch for Friday nite hotel and I'm broke anyway, so I will camp out. If I can declare an offday there is an excellent chance that I will get out of work at noon Friday which could place me in the Slabs Friday before nightfall.

I can camp at the staging/airdown spot and wait for you guys Saturday. Should others show up I could prerun the river levels Friday nite. If this works out I'll be on channel one CB monitoring for the group.

Has Keach responded at all to this trip? Where's Keach?
