As I viewing pics of Bolivar Point and the destruction from Ike, I wanted to see what has happened to the area where we went on this wonderful trip.

Here is a link to site that has a lot of good before/after shots.

Here's a pic of Ft. Travis now and you can see on page 10 from our pics.

It's amazing to see these pics. We went on this jaunt 3 months after Hurricane Rita hit along the same path, just a little further East.

My main concern has been Bolivar Point Lighthouse. I haven't seen it in any pics and I have been terribly worried about it. One report I read is that Ike destroyed the over 100 year old lighthouse by shaving the top of it off. I am not sure if this is accurate because the one pic in this thread is too far away to see damage but it does look intact. This lighthouse has survived many hurricanes and has saved many lives.

We have been talking about making this trip again like every 5 years just to see how the erosion from Mother Nature was taking back her land. We'll probably do it sooner now...after the truck is up and ready and the majority of the clean up has been completed.

I'll have to have to go through some of the pics in previous posts to see if we can do a comparison.

Here is the link to a forum set up by one of the news stations in Houston.
