- 2002 mountaineer
after much research on my 2002 Mountaineer, instead of posting a question, I'm posting an answer.
I had idle problems with high idle at stoplights, that dropped to normal after a few seconds. I went through the normal run of things.
IAC, EGR, TPS, cleaned MAF, and looked for leaks.
What I found-
Some crud in the EGR passage of the intake. Good find.
Still had issues with high rpm's at stop signs and slow
dropping of RPM in general. Start up went to 2500 rpm for 10 or 15 seconds.
Unplugging the IAC stopped it.
So after much reading here, went down and replaced the NAPA
IAC with a dealership one. When I heard the price, I let out a sigh.
The parts guy dropped about 30% off immediately.
Still pricey. I went home and installed it. Problem solved.
Lesson here- you get what you pay for. Thanks to the guys
that pointed out the aftermarket part wasn't the same.
Look exactly the same on the outside, but looking in the
outlet it wasn't the same at all.
