My sister was driving today, and said as she was pulling away from the light the truck started to shake violentley, and the shaking got worse and increased as she gave it more gas to move. She it made a horrible smell comming through the air vent blowing air. She made it to community after the light and said all the gages (gas, temp, oil ect.) started going nutz going back and forth quickly, and when she pulled in she heard like a metal grinding sound and turned off the truck. Smoke was comming from the whole front end and when the tow truck guy lifted the hood he said "I hate to say this, but it doesn't look to good".

So they get it too the dealership, apparently a line had come loose or something to do with the coolent, there was no coolent left at all. Basically the whole engine seized, and before it did, it decided to crack the block, the rods and valves we're destroyed, the top and bottom end of the engine we're totally destroyed:( So no more 94', I have to go to the dealer tomorrow or another day to rip my whole system out.

Only 110,000 miles, I got it with about 50,000 on it for my 16th b-day and it was given to my sister last year, engine and stereo mod included. The last 70,000 miles we're very hard, flooring it all the time to hear the Flows, towing heavy things (27ft Fountain), getting airborne at our Lakehouse, 3 serious accidents ranging from about 2,000 to 6,000 in damage to the truck (not our fault by the way) ect ect. And it was still on the supposedly crappy original A4LD trans that outlasted the supposedly strong ohv block, hehe.

Oh well, we know the guys at the dealer and the manager said he would have given us their new Marauder to use (it as his demo vehicle) as he knew I loved that car, but they just sold it so they gave us an 03' fully loaded Grand Marquis to use with every option, very nice car........light years better then the last Marquis/Towncars in everything from ride to handling and interior finish. And it looks pretty tight in black with chrome rims and it even had the HID lights that are optional...pretty sweet.

That sux, sorry to hear that also, when are you getting that mounty?
Heh, whenever I can find the right friggen truck, it is so hard to find a loaded 03' or even 02' Mounty with the 4.6 V8 let alone in Silver Frost.

Every single one I find or our dealer has gotten in has the sohc V6 with 3.55 gears and, I want the 4.6 V8 with 3.73 gears and towing package damnit:mad: . Our dealer did have a V8 one that was loaded but it was white and IMO I don't care for that color on the new ones, I love that silver color. Oh well it'll be worth the wait, the damn long sucky wait:(

That sucks bad! Too bad she didn't just stop and check to see what the problem was... I guess hindsight is 20/20 though. I really hate to hear of this happening... but... I'm not far off... I wonder what a '94 has that I could use... :-) mabey a compatible oil send unit? I'm j/k.... but man, that does suck alot. Good luck with a replacement vehicle if you go down that route.

Why don't you order one with exactly what you want?

The only new cars we ever bought we're my moms 97' Mounty, and my grandparents Town Car and Arden Jag XKR which they sold. My grandparents just like too buy cars that have only a few thousand miles on it and are practically new but are listed for 5-10,000 less then a new one. Their Jag, although modded, was around 130,000 new and then sold it last summer for only 80,000 after a little less then 2yrs and they pay cash ffor all our vehicles so they weren't too thrilled about taking that hit lol, but it was hard for my grandfather to drive it b/c of his stroke. They bought their Towncar new in 95' and still have it, and will not get rid of it after I tried talking them into getting the Marauder, and they looked at the new SL55 AMG but crazy grandma didn't care for either one especially the SL's price tag, can't see spending that much for car anymore when their Town Car is just as nice with the only difference being power-wise.

Plus I'm already planning on a whole bunch of goodies from the KenneBell twin-screw to Blk Mk8 and Troll building a true dual custom mandrel bent exhaust at their shop. I'd feel more comfortable doing everything on an engine with at least 10,000 miles on it, not to mention new the Mounty I want is close to 40,000:eek:

whew...I don't even know if what I just wrote made sense:confused:

So youre waiting for a hand-me-down from the Grandparents?? :D

I think it makes more economic sense to buy late model used, but it means that you probably won't find exactly what you want.

The reason that I ended up with the 4.0 OHV instead of the 4.0 SOHC is because I got a really good deal on a truck in really good shape and I paid $10k less than the guy who bought it new 1 1/2 years earlier.

Thats why I tried getting them to look at the Marauder, pops likes it, and grandma does to but doesn't want to give up her Town Car even though they could afford to:confused: I drive them to all their Charity things, so that way I could have been using the Marauder after I dropped them off, heh.

Exactly, it sucks trying to find what you want in a even a barely used car. New Mounty with what I'm trying to find is about 38,000 while one with around 10,000-20,000 or so miles can be had for about 21,000-26,000. Better to look for a used one IMO thats already well broken in for goodies.

uhhh no...sorry we're not stuck up snobs....a 94' and 00' Mounty makes us rich??? There are younger kids on here driving newer trucks then us.

Your from Daytona so you probably know what Boca's like, I'm 20 and my sis is 18 driving a 94' Explorer, when kids recieve M5's and Porsches here for their b-days...yet we're spoiled?

Ive been without a car for a year there buddy;)

Dont call him rich, if you're from Florida you *might* have heard of berkeley... I go there, I'm like one of the poorer families (aside from scholarship kids), and I drive a '99 Sport. If that doesnt give you an idea, brand new beamers are a low standard... gs 430s are pretty good, and stupid rich 5'1" girls get H2's, park them in the mud next to me, fall out, cant get their bags out of the back, complain, key my car because it is more useful, then complain when they try to get in when it is too high. Those are some spoiled kids.

Saleen, I can relate to gettin' tagged a stuck-up, spoiled rich kid too. The town that I live in has money, but my family doesn't. I was driving a puke green (that should have been the official color for it) 78 Malibu with a crappy six in it in high school (because my great uncle passed away and didn't have any other direct relavtives). It didn't even have a radio in it, the rear windows didn't roll down (they were fixed in place like that from the factory).

I used to get tagged as being a rich brat, just from the town I lived in. Not cool...

Sorry to hear about the X... I have a '94 too and have been lucky enough to not have any major break downs or repairs needed (knock on wood)..

Good luck with getting a replacement that you want! :)

Dave

bummer yo:(

Wow, really sorry to hear about that Saleen.

Have you ever thought of using a auto broker to find the Mounty? They can search databases all over the country and find what you want really quick. Just look around on the net.

LOL, I love it when people call other people "rich" and mean it as an insult (not to say this was the point here, I dont think it was). I find this especially prevolent online, many a time I've popped in a car chatroom and mentioned what I drive (moreso when it was new) and someone says "HA! What are you like rich or something?" I've noticed most people react badly to that, and it offends them, whether they have money or not. I always just answer "Yes, I am".

no joke, we tried and the only Mounty I found that was perfect was an 02' with the 4.6 V8, 3.73 gears with towing package and was 2wd with the luxury package in Silver...except for one thing....it had about 51,000 miles on it which was a little on the high side for an 02' Mounty for me...Found a few others but I'm really holding out on trying to find a low mileage example with the same options, our dealer goes to the dealer auctions almost every week and they still havn't seen one.

And we've been doing business with our dealer for so long and their so good to us that we kinda want to stick with them. They even gave my mom a brand new 03' Marquis with every option including the HID lights with only 174 miles on the odometer to use for right now......everyone else usually gets stuck with a Focus as a loaner hehehe...this is like the Lexus service dealership in terms of American dealers lol.

Even if you go onto Ebay, theres like a total of 14 Mounty's for sale I think with only two being 02's but with the damn sohc V6:mad: edit- I think one of them also has like 55,000 miles or something like that, on an 02' people do some mad driving....

Wow, sounds like you've got a great dealer there.

Yeah, stay away from the ultra high mileage cars like that, especially because they're Fords. They're lots of travel highway and city miles.
