The 94' is dead.........

ok, I decided to edit this post cause it was too big...

My grandfather owned an Allstate office that was ranked among the top in the nation, worked his azz off. My mom ran the office for 5yrs untill we sold it after he had a stroke that caused him so trouble with his left side. Mom doesn't work b/c my grandparents don't want her too, even though she's only 43, b/c after running that office and going through some bad situations she just does not have the nerves to handle that kind of stress anymore. So they have her, my sis and I as dependents which allows them very HUGE deductions and write offs too them. My mom sis and I have a very large house (8000 sqft) directly on the intracoastal b/c it also allows my grandparents large tax write offs and we're a water loving family. I don't work b/c I go to a hard private college 5 minutes away and they want me to concentrate on school, sister does work cause she goes to a very easy community college here. We help out a number of charites ect.

That was a lot shorter then the more thourough (sp?) explanation I had before but I think was way too long to read, but I think it came out more confusing and you might take it the wrong way:confused:

Don't take it the wrong way, we are not some stuck up snobs, yes we're well off but we do not show off whatsoever. We get bad looks everyday in our community b/c it's like people in here think just b/c we can afford a nice house directly on the intracoastal that we should also be able to afford a Benz, Bentley, Rover ect....anything less is like lowly to them. But fortunatley for us we love Ford and can't see spending a sh!tload of money for an unreliable Rover, nothing against Benz's or anything as I love them, it's just we love Explorers and Mountys and you cannot beat them for the price at all.

And believe me, my sister and I we're raised to have major respect and appreciation for what we have, and this is why we do so much for charities as theres a lot more unfortunate people out there. So even though my sister *18( and I (20) do not have to pay for our trucks, we appreciate very much and know how lucky we are to be given something like that. There are younger people on here then my mom and us who are driving the same or nicer trucks so............

If you wanna call someone SISSY RICH, say it to the kids in my neighborhood who recieve an Aston Martin or Porsche for their 16th b-day, thats a little extreme IMO.

Hope that made some sense:confused:

I totally agree with you and don't think you are bragging. It is common for people to label people still living under the care of their parents (whom are well off) to be spoiled. While this is often the case, it isn't always. Believe it or not, there are rich people with good morals and ethics that want to raise their kids with an understanding that the real world isn't going to be like home, and that they aren't always going to be there to help you in a pinch. I just misinformation and lack of experience... thats all. Feel not a lesser person because of it, you are the victim of a sterotype that is commonly correct.... just don't take it personally.

[addendum] If some smart ass kid ever gives you trouble... call me up, I'll get some of my down-to-earth friends with G500's and bentlys to come over and set them straight... Tampa is only a hop skip and a jump away from BR ;)

Saleen sorry to hear about your loss......

And there's really no reason for you to have to justify where you live and how much money you have. If something doesn't like it, fawk 'em.

snif snif:( I'll miss her, damn, I really loved that truck. Maybe it was b/c it was my 1st car, but something about those 1st gens that I just love they way it felt to drive it, it was tan with Limo tint those black window rain avoider thingy's on each window (forgot what their called), sweet RIVA YAMAHA sticker on the back window where we got our waverunners from, the Flowmaster exhaust with the sweet chrome tip, and the best....a b-day present from my sister 3yrs ago....a license plat cover on the back that had two palm trees on each side with a naked lady posing near each one....hehe, I think my sister forgot about that when she drove it. It just looked so clean and smooth, especially with the new paint job after it got the **** keyed out of it a couple months ago. I loved the look of that 1st gen. And it definitley stood out among all the CL600's and Z8's which is insane for them to have at college.

Although its more common for kids, us adults get it too, which is even more rediculous because we worked for what we have, but whatcha gonna do? We live in a society where its bad to look rich, bad to look poor, and middle class is not much better off. I grew up very poor, and now because of my hard work, I support my family in a way that I never dreamed would be possible, I've adopted an "excuse me for succeeding" kind of attitude. People are nasty to you all sorts of places, I drive a Lexus, I notice a very distinct change in how people treat me on the road when I'm driving it, or when I'm driving the Explorer or Sequoia. People are nasty to the guy in the Lexus because he's rich, but the guy in the Toyota or the Explorer is underneath the radar. I belong to a Country Club, and the first golf hole is along the roadway, all the time people drive by and lay on their horns just to disrupt the golfers. Its stupid.

Like I said before, excuse me for succeeding

One of the universal truths in life: You can't please everyone. Why even bother trying? Just live your own life, treat other people as you would want them to treat you, don't worry what other people think, you can't please them all anyway.

If someone is going to judge you by how much or how little you have, they probably don't know you very well anyway, so why worry about it?

*Clears his throat* And what's wrong with the SOHC, hmm? ;)

:D Just j/k with ya Saleen. My dad could kick himself for not ordering the V-8 when we bought the truck. SOHC ain't a bad substitute though. I always get comments on the power, but that's probably because of the 4.10s :)

Exactly.

My family by no means is broke but were also not rich. I did pay for my vehicle but im probably about 1 in 10 kids in my shcool who did. If your parents/grandparents give you a decent 94 ex that shouldnt make you a spoiled rich kid. I personally think the new mounty thing is a little overboard but who the hell cares what i think. If people critisize you for having money, then the hell with em.

Not enough power for me. Plus I love the sound of the 4.6 V8...and stock they are damn quick, I can't even keep up with my neighbors 02' Explorer in our 5.0 Mounty, he just pulls away and I've ran a 16.2 in 1/4 with it:( . The 4.6 V8's powerband is so well matched to the new 5 speed that it's amazing, keeps the engine right in it's powerband the whole time.

Remember it's gonna be used, not new, their a little pricey being close to 40,000 new. Where as you can find used ones in the low to mid 20,000 range.

Kids getting 100,000 doller cars for their b-days is a little extreme IMO;) Basically why I hate just about every young pun in here or even the ones around me age, we don't talk to anybody except for my neighbors on each side, every other stuck up b!tch can kiss our ass lol:p

Why don't you have your dealer put in a complete engine from a rollover? The trucks bound to be worth more running than parts.

???? You mean a 4.6 in an 02' or 03?

Our dealer will be getting in 03' Mountys that we're demos in about a month or two, so it looks like we'll just end up buying one of those, their mainly Premeire and Luxury versions.....so...hopefully a true Blue or Silver one will come in:D oh yeh...with the 4.6, won't have it any other way;)

EDIT - or did you mean the 94' ? They gave us about 3500 on trade in which is pretty good considering it needs a complete new engine.....oh well....plus the trans probably would have gone soon with 110,000 miles that we're basically all very hard from flooring it to towing a 27ft Fountain...so....

Saleen EXP: re. "the right mounty"

LOL, they are circling already, unfortunatley I would love to sell it to you guys who could use it for parts, but our dealship is gonna give us money for it so my sister will pry end up with a nice 99-01 2nd gen Explorer or most likely Mountaineer scince our dealer is Lincoln Mercury so....sorry:)

Heh, whenever I can find the right friggen truck, it is so hard to find a loaded 03' or even 02' Mounty with the 4.6 V8 let alone in Silver Frost.

Every single one I find or our dealer has gotten in has the sohc V6 with 3.55 gears and, I want the 4.6 V8 with 3.73 gears and towing package damnit:mad: . Our dealer did have a V8 one that was loaded but it was white and IMO I don't care for that color on the new ones, I love that silver color. Oh well it'll be worth the wait, the damn long sucky wait:(

I haven't been on the board for a while (busy with work and all), but I just saw your post. Sorry about your truck. That's a shame.

I believe I saw to or three Mountys just as you described for your own out here in Glendale, CA. The guy who sold me mine (which incidentally is exactly as you describe the one you want - fully loaded), had a boat load in an off-site lot. I would have counted how many, but at the time, it was raining like hell!

Is there a chance your people at the Lincoln/Mercury dealership can arrange an exchange with my guy, who's another Lincoln Mercury person? It'd be a cross country trek for the truck as I I recall for some reason that you're in Florida. Anyway, it's just a thought. I don't think those Mountys are going to be moving fast - it seems here in L.A., they're not as popular as Explorers or the new rage (gasp!) H2s.:redexp:

What are your thoughts?
