well the title says it all, this summer I'll have some money to make the ex off-roadable.....so whats the best tire overall in 31 or 32" size that will wear half-decent, provide good off-road ability, highway manners aren't that important to me.... must be of the cheaper price bracket. will be going on my 95 with TT/shackles, and possibly a 2"BL. I will probably get a set of black 15x8 rockcrawler rims to go with.....

so just please gimme some reccomendations for a tire as described above, and possibly a place to order from.
(anyone use the pepboys futura M/T's??)
thanks
-dave

--oh yeah I would be best off getting a b.s. on the wheel of 3.75 to keep it from stickin out too far??

M/T or A/T? I'd go with 3.75" too.

I have the BFG MTs and they're great. I have 10 months on them and they still look brand new. They're quiet, great in the snow and mud, and look badass.

yeah I like the look of the futuras and the price.... I am looking for a off-road oriented A/T tire or M/T tire, everybody and their brother seems to have BFG KO's... ..too bad I liked those too...

right now I have a set of Regul A/T tires, stock size though, but I'd love them if they were a little more aggressive, as they suck in mud....

--10 months on the BFG M/T's, might have to check those out...sound expensive though...

I have had good experiences with the Pathfinder A/T sold at Discount tires. It's good in sand and hardpack but not good in mud. Very long wearing but it sounds like you need a M/T.

I had the older BFG M/T and loved them. I made the mistake of replacing them with A/T. When these tires wear out I think I'll go with the new BFG muds :)

The General Grabber M/Ts are great too. I ran a set of 33s on my Explorer and still run 33s on my B2. Firestone also has a new M/T out called the Destroyer of something like that. Bridgestone M/Ts are real nice too from what I hear.

i have a set of 31x 10.5 on my x , They look , run and sound great!!!! They cost me about $100 ea.

sounds like my X! i got black rock crawlers on 32's BFG M/T. great tire for the price!

i don't think bgf's qualify as the lower price bracket.

i like the general grabber MTs as mentioned by splashman too.

i have mastercraft courser MTs on my truck and love them. 5 mounted and balanced for under $550. they haven't let me down yet.

i've seen people liking the uniroyal laredo MTs also.

I dont know about the price, but maxxis makes some BAD ASS looking tires.

What about Procomp?:D No complaints out of my 31" A/T and if I still have the X when it's time for new tires, I will definately be going to a 32" M/T. 4WPW runs great specials on them. Look into the Swamper TRXUS - they look bad ass. A guy down here has them on his Z71 (285/75R16) which are right there between a 32 and 33. Those and some 16" Black Rockcrawlers along with a TT/Shackle and 2" BL and I think you'd be in business. Just my two...
