1997 Ford Explorer
Hello everybody - my name is Kerry. I own a 1997 Ford Explorer. My Explorer is in "fair" shape and I am hoping that this forum will allow me to fix some issues. I am also confident that I will be able to share my knowledge and experiences with the rest of the gang.

So...

Lets start off with my current issue.I have determined that my fuel pump is shot. The truck is stuck in my driveway so I had no way to lift it up high enough to drop the tank so I went ahead and did the floorboard cutout trick to gain access to the top of the gas tank and fuel pump.

I am now ready to procees with the removal of the fuel pump - - this is where I need some assistance.

I have the tool required to remove the two fuel lines - no problem with that however I am not sure how to remove the electrical connection that is attached to the top of the fuel pump cover plate. I looked in the Haynes manual and their pics show what appears to be a socket like connection but my connection looks almost like it is one piece (not a male/female connection). I tried to pull the connection apart (gently) by grabbing the four wires and pulling/wiggling upware and it did not seem to budge. I then tried using a needle nose to grab the base of the connector pulling upward but again it did not want to move. Unless I am mistaken I think that the connection may not be a male/female type - - unless I am just not pulling hard enough. I don't want to pull too hard and break anything.

I took several pictures that will show what I am talking about. When I tried to insert them into this message I am being asked for a URL. How do I do this? Any free places out there on the net where I can upload and link to ?

thank you everyone !
