The official rollpan construction page

Well today I filled in the groove in my Limited splashguards. I also reinforced my frame mounts and took care of some more mounting issues. Tomorrow the other endcap goes on. After that, all that's left is body work, and lots of it. I'll be happy when I can put my can of fiberglass resin AWAY!

Where's the pictures, man? It's more fun with pictures. :bounce:

Read my earlier post, I don't have my cam.

ok i think we need to get back on track.....whats the latest?

(can you believe i almost asked where some new pics were)

Well I just got done laying some fiberglass on the 2nd end of the rollpan. A little more fiberglass work today and tomorrow and I should be just about done with the fiberglass aspect. Then I have a lot of sanding to do, then it's off to the body shop (hopefully) by next week.

Got any pics?

hehe, j/k, I was the first to ask before you said you had no cam and I just had to do it again and I bet I'm not going to be the last :D

ok, horseplay was cleaned up. to anyone who was offended, im sorry. it was just a joke, and not meant to be harsh. :)

That "horseplay" doesn't do justice to this project by HARTMAN. Thanks, James, it was a classy thing you did.

Now, where can I find Section525? :p :)

i think a thread should be started called horesplay and have what was ereased on this page on it....it was damn funny!!!

Sorry about the picture, X-Factor. I wasn't trying to get under your skin or piss you off or anything. I was just messin around.

PS. I'm in Chico, CA if you want to come pour bleach on my lawn or anything... I'll understand.

I thought my post count went down:frustrate Lets do it again so BM can see wat happened;) :D

Section525, truth is, I was okay with it. I did admit it was funny. It just got out of hand after that. A hard day at work didn't help either. Everythings cool. Your lawn is safe. :D

Sorry to get this thread off topic, again, HARTMAN.

And as for IAMTODD and FORDKRAZY, ummmm... no. :p

A ton of bricks just hit me! You should have started with a pan for a Expidition. They have the contour of the back alredy in them. Damn, Sorry I didn't think of this ahead of time. :(

I think the back of an expedition is pretty flat compared to our X's. So you would still have to notch it match the tailgate contour. I could be wrong though.

BM, I was going to start with an Expedition pan. Here's the problem, they don't make an Expedition pan in fiberglass, only urethane. Fiberglass does not like to stick to urethane at all. Matching the contours is already done on mine anyway, that part is done with.

Are your parents back yet? I hate to be the one to ask but I'm getting antsy (and I doubt I'm the only one). :p

Yes I should have pics tomorrow.

As you can see, it's not ready for paint yet. I've found that if I tack on about two weeks to my "projected" finish time, then I'll get an accurate time. I've been working on this thing for so long that it's becoming hard to stay on task. I JUST WANT TO GET THE DAMN THING DONE ALREADY!

My advice to anyone thinking about making a rollpan: go steel. Modding a fiberglass pan is too much work. More work and $$$ on materials than what you get out of it.
