Ok guys I just HAD to share this. I am rebuilding a valve body for a fellow Board member online and told him I'd find the core than he could send me his to replace it. I bought a core from a trusted source ....MMERLIN on E-bay. It arrived and frankly I was amazed at how clean it was and how good it looked. I started taking it apart.. it had the separator plate so I carefully removed it....everthing I could see underneath was really clean too. It started me wondering. I looked at the checkballs, yep all there, then it hit me. THERE WERE NO ACCUMULATOR PUCKS!

Some poor ******* had a rebuild and had problems from the start after that because some stupid f***-up left out the pucks! No wonder the body looked so good. here is what I found.

some knowledgeable folks will get a good laugh out of this. The rest of you.. there is a small disc with an equally small hole it in that is supposed to go here. It was missing totally.... talk about HARSH shifting. There are TWO and they were BOTH missing.

ps. Peter, sorry, HAD to share.

Well I had to take this one step further. I thought while I was going to do this bore by bore.... I wanted to see if the problem child 3-4 solenoid screen was crudded up at all. So I undid it... and got ready to pull it out...

Note there IS scoring on the sleeve. This seems to be common.

Anyway this supports my theory. Oh and when I peeled off the gasket? It came off in ONE piece. This was a rebuild gone bad out of the chute.

Absolutley classic.

Btw, still no probs with drilling my pucks out.

All the best.

Everything else was fine.

This could be a LONG thread, given its title.....

rebuild = nightmare begins

UNLESS you are like Glacier and really know what you are doing, these things are tricky!!
