OK, heres the story.
I was in the Roanoke area this weekend for a wedding on Sat. On sunday, we had just got done doing a little Musky fishing, and were driving back to the Hotel down US-220 heading toward Troutville. We saw this 18 wheeler hauling Hogs swerving in and out of the very few cars that were on the road, doing in excess of 70 mph. Now this is mountanious road, and VERY VERY curvy. I had a hard time keeping 65mph. He had just passed me, and was heading for the most dangerous curve of the road, and NOT slowing down. Welp, needless to say, he flipped the truck into the side of a hill, taking out an electric pole, and letting about 30 hogs loose. I immedatley stopped, got out, and ran over to see if he was ok. I couldnt find him, the cab was totally trashed, and the power lines were sagging dangerously close to the cab. I called 911, and continued a flashlight search. I finally saw him, laying on the ground under the cab, he was thrown out, and beaten pretty bad, but was alive, and talking. We talked to him, until the rescue arrived(very quickly i might add). There were hogs everywhere, a lot injured and squeeling, which added to the whole drama for the evening. My friend got a few pics, which im going to share. However I just want to add the driver lived, and the hogs shown in the pics, are NOT dead(yet), but just laying down injured. I am just going to provide a link, of the pics due to the nature. I will be uploading more later.
Please drive safely folks....this could be anyone.

wow.. that is just stupid of the driver to do that. reminds me of that movie with patrick swazy about truck driving, and how they have to know how to drive in the hills.

Good of you to stay there and help him out!

That is just ingorance. I have some pics around here somewhere of an 18 wheeler comin around a corner to fast and tippin' over. Theyre in black and white. Glad him and the oinkers ( most of them ) were alright.

wow, those are some scary pictures...good of you to stop.

while you were talking to him did you happen to ask why he was driving like an ass?

I contemplated it once or twice, considering he almost got me involved in that mess. However, he wasnt very talkative (wonder why? :) ) So I just let it go. The thing that really pisses me off, is every once in a while, Ill turn on my CB, and listen to 19. All I hear is the damn arrogant drivers complaining about how bad the "4 wheelers" drive. When over half the accidents involving a truck, and a 4 wheeled vehicle are the trucks fault. Either going too fast, not paying attention, or falling asleep.

Poor pigs, and truck. Damn, I hope they sue that guy. Talk about ****ing up real good!!!!

i guess he wasn't familiar with the roads

could it have been possible he lost his brakes?

Unfortunatley, unlike the movies, air brakes do not fail unless they aren't adjusted for slack. If all the air escapes, the brakes lock on, or "dynamite".

That is why a big truck goes shwisshh when it is parked, that is the air escaping, and letting the brake lock on.

Black Dog. Good movie.

Was he not wearing a seatbelt? How did he get thrown out?

Hey Special Ed, I too am a truck driver and have been for 20 years. I can't begin to tell you the things i see. Sounds like that hog hauler was suicidal.
