Does anybody have any suggestions that I might try? It's not a bad leak, but I'd like to fix it.

I used some of that a few years ago and it didn't work. I've used the Alumaseal powder with good results. I put some in an old F150 I had and it ran for years after that. But. . .I think the leak has stopped. I guess the heat has expanded everything to the point that it isn't leaking. The water outlet has a green stain from the antifreeze, but it feel's dry to the touch. I can still smell the antifreeze smell under the hood a little. But I think I'm in good shape.
Hey guys,
I also saw Ben G.'s web site and I'm about to repair / replace my Thermostat & Housing. Question on the sensors - I inspected my housing to see how many sensors I have. It looks like mine has two sensors, but only one is connected - the other has no wire harness connected to it. Would Ford install two sensors and not connect one of them?? I'm the original owner of the vehicle, no one messing under the hood except me. I've got the 2005 Exp Sport Trac XLT 4x4.
(I'd attach a photo of the sensors explaining what I mean if I could figure out how to)
scapino- The later 4.0 SOHC's use the single sensor housing. I was in the same predicament, my '05 ST had two sensors with only one connector. Instead of using the same setup and using the gauge sender to plug the extra hole, I used the RH148 single sensor housing. Keep in mind, if you are reusing your old sensor, the o-ring seal is flattened and will leak in the new housing. Either find a replacement o-ring, or buy a new DY1004 ECT sensor. Do not attempt to seal the sensor port with RTV, I tried and it leaked two weeks later. IIRC, o-ring size is 9mm I.D x 2.5mm thickness. Use a Viton type material o-ring or something chemical and heat resistant. (Not plumbing o-rings) GL
Thanks for the heads up. And for only $11.50 I decided to just order a replacement sensor with the thermostat housing. Rock Auto listed a couple different types with different connectors - hope I got the correct one? I ordered this:
May be too late if you've ordered. I've read several posts here that some aftermarket sensors do not fit or seal in the replacement OEM housing. If you ordered the Motorcraft RH148, consider using the DY1269 ECT sensor shown instead. When it comes to electrical or sensors, I always use the OEM part despite the usually higher price. Reason? They are guaranteed to fit and designed for that application. I understand that Ford does not make all their own parts, but why take a chance? Unless it's suspension or brakes, I'll always pay the difference. Of course, I avoid the Ford dealer's parts department gouging at ANY expense. IMO, Amazon and RockAuto rule, no one else comes remotely close for pricing, selection, and shipping.
