Thermostat housing replacement

2013 V6 the thermostat housing has large tube that runs under the intake manifold, how is it attached to thermostat housing? All diagrams I find end at this point. Other end of tube is hose to heater core.

It looks like it attaches to the thermostat housing by just being shoved in there using an o-ring.

Other end goes into the block behind the water pump.

I have tried pulling it off, it doesn't want to come off the other end of the tube is just getting looser it seems
