This amp sufficient

I know this box isn't all that great but for 130 bucks i couldn't pass it up.

this is my amp

My question is: is this an okay amp. I have it bridged positive of one to the negative of the other, if I'm reading it right it pushes 500W. the Box is 4 ohms with one input. and the subs are 300W RMS each. is this enough or should i look for a new amp?

In my opinion you should be good, thats 1200 watts peak and 500rms watts from the amp. Hook it up and see how it sounds, if you dont like it you can up grade if you want. Thats just my opinion, but im not an expert.

I've been running it for a few weeks, and it is quite loud I'm just wondering if I'm using it to it's full potential. or not over powering it.

I'd say you were fine. The subs are theoretically getting 250RMS, which is close to the 300rms limit. I'd rather run slightly under then be over and worry I might blow the subs if it was up all the way.

Well i got the box and both subs for 130. I didn't think that was all that bad of a deal.

Sony is a BIG NO in car subwoofers, theyre headunits are one of a kind, although they do have theyre cheapies, my Sony headunits have lasted years and years of pounding, and I just bought a new one, youd think i paid $250+ for I got it for 140$ with a 10$ HD tuner for it, although that was just crutchfield's deal lol

The word you are looking for is series. The subs are in series.

You're right, sorry for that, yes you should be fine, but get a better as soon as you can cause i dont think that sony can make the 500 RMS it claims, and don't feel bad, most of us learn it the same way as you.

If you like car audio you'll be getting a new system soon, so, keep it like that and upgrade what your pocket permit, and just for the record ask before buy next time .

This threat isnt about how good or bad is sony, but HU and speakers are junk to, you can get better equipment for the same price, that makes then junk, no the product itself, the price is the problem.

Sony sells you a $120 HU with a price of $200 and claim is a greta one, you'll never new until you try a kenwood, alpine or pioneer $200 HU, same with speakers, subs and every sony does for car audio.

I had a boss amp that last about 10 years without problem, but that doesnt make it a good amp, it's a long lasting amp, it claims to feed 60x4@ 4ohm, but when i bench tested it give me 41x4@4ohm and there is the problem, if they sell it to you as a 40x4 amp they will have a better reputation, other wise they are stealing your money.

Wow calm down. There is no reason to get so excited over car audio.

I had a Sony CDX-C8050X which was the top of the line non active black panel unit the year it came out (01?). After about a year the cd player would skip more than it would play. Then the radio stopped working. Then it developed a bad ground loop that I couldn't get rid of. So I got rid of it, replaced it with an Alpine and have had no problems since.

Oh I went to put the sony in a vehicle I sold. The RF amp channel had blown, which is weird cause I don't use the amp in headunits.

I won't even get into the two sony amps I had. Had to throw them out too.

There are much better choices than sony out there.

Since no one seemed to answer the question in the OP, I will. Yes, you have it hooked up correctly (left + and right - terminals) so the amp is bridged to run the single 4 ohm load produced by the enclosure.

I have been at this game for a long time. I remember Sony being a power house with their ES line of gear. Then, sometime in the late 90's they rolled out their Xplod line up and yes, its all junk.

Before I get into why it is junk, why don't you tell us why their decks are not junk. Like mentioned, longevity is only one facet of greatness. Do you even know anything about the components and parts they use in there decks? You would be surprised.

I think I get the story here. Its called loyalty and thats not a bad thing. But please tell us why sony head units are so good?

xplode stuff sucks...I had one of Alpines first cd players that still worked up until a few years ago...that thing had to have been early 90s.

My dad has an xplode HU...one of there $300+ dollar units from a few years ago....its crapping out already. None of the buttons work...only the remote.

The old Alpine lasted without any repairs for 10+ years. That is why sony has turned to junk these days.
