Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I gotta just say it's pretty damn cool to see this many people interested in explorers. so where's everyone from? and how did you all get interested in modifying your trucks?

haha, i was thinking the same exact thing ;)

Nicholtl, go to the Registry forum and you'll see where people are from. Also if you look under everyone's name many have listed where they are from there.

Nicholtl; well I found this site while researching the purchase of a '92 4x4... didn't end up getting it, but I have liked X's since the beginning, and when it came time to get a new 'beater for my daughter's and wife's 2nd vehicle.... I figured I'd buy FORD, and use this site to help me build it :bounce: My wife says I should've bought a cheaper truck to afford all the added $$hit I want; :D Welcome to the site... let us know wher in L.A. you are from. (I went to school in the San Fernando Valley).

haha wow this forum is awesome everyone responds so quickly! frank rizzo, i live in downtown la but you may have heard of my frat gamma epsilon omega. where are you around usc?

I live in the San Fernando Valley. My wife is actually the SC alum, but because I made the loan payments every month for the last 10 years, I'm more into it than her.

What kind of supercharger do you have on your truck, and did you install it yourself?

all i got to say is damn......

now thats a lot of aftermartket...

nice ex! i've always loved explorers and wanted to build one up. when the 2001's came out i fell in love but didnt have the change to buy one. so i bought a salvage and am working on getting into off road condition.

Welcome! Thats a lot of aftermarket stuff without seeing this site, lol. you'll prolly find more stuff. :)

I just gotta say I didn't know this many people modified their explorers. I got into it because everywhere I turned, there were jacked up chevy's and gmc's, but most explorers were just stock. So i wanted to stand apart. but wow, looks like everyone here feels the same. FRANKRIZZO, as for the supercharger no, i didn't install it myself...it was a little too complex for me to risk messing things up. oh, and its a powerdyne...if you want to go to the shop i go to its called offroad unlimited in burbank. just check out their site www.offroadunlimited.com cause the owner of that shop (which is the best one in town) also owns conferr. oh, and GREENGEEKER, what you're doing is the best thing to do...undertaking a project of restoring and bringing an old truck to offroad capability is about the most rewarding thing i can think of. keep at it!

Hey nicholtl, welcome to the site.

I was wondering, did you see a power increase when you installed the Tornado you have?

Slightly...then again it may have been placebo. Fuel economy DEFINATELY increased by several miles per gallon. Which isnt' much, but when I got only 7-8 mpg I had nowhere to go but up. I recommend it.

Fuel economy is a pretty good reason to get it, and the slight power increase doesn't hurt either. I still don't know though. $70 is a lot of money :(

the tornado is that helix power-tower thing right? Will it help my gas loving 4.0 ohv?

hey nich.. how much hp do u think you have with all yoru mods? dyno?

WHERE THE PICS OF YOUR RIDE AT MAN?

i'm not sure if it is the "helix power tower" thing but yeah it is like a helix type shape that supposedly creates a more efficient combustion of air and fuel due to it's "swirling" effect. $70 is alot of money, but it'll pay for itself within several months over what you'll save for gas. Yes, it'll help your gas loving 4.0 unabonked. it helps my gas loving 5.0. hp wise it is around 280, roughly. and as for pics believe me i want pics just as bad, but i don't have a camera and haven't the time yet to have a friend take the pics for me. soon though, soon!
