I've got three questions for you guys. 1) Where can I purchase shackles for my truck, and which do you recommend (I want them for increased rear height) 2) Where can I purchase a full length add-a-leaf for my truck. It is for height, but it is mainly for heavy loads. I tote around heavy marine science gear as well as heavy speakers for PA's and such cause I'm in a band. 3) Where can I get these installed at? Will the ford garage install them, or do I have to go to a 4x4 shop. Also, does anyone have any pictures of the torsion bars so that I can find them and twist them up 2" to jack up the front a bit. Thanks in advance for all your answers. I've got a 97 SOHC XLT by the way. Thanks.

HI !!!

For the shackels you might want to try your local 4x4 shop and they should also sell rancho suspension and i think rancho sells one add a leaf to firm up your ride not sure on that tho, OR go to a place that sells and installs drop hitches and they might be able to help with a add-a-leaf. Hope this helps

You can get shackles form www.desertrat.com. I suggest the Warrior shackles. I think the p/n is war-153. You can get the add a leaf's from almost any aftermarket company. www.summitracing.com has them. As for the torsion twist, do a search here on either 'torsion' or 'shackle' and you should find lots of info. Also, you might want to go buy a Haynes maintenance manual. It gives detailed info and pix of almost anything you need to do to the truck, including where the torsion bars and bolts are

1) Yes just ask at your local shop for them to order the shackles from warior

2) Local spring shop (?)

3) I doubt Ford will do it, but you never know. Personally, if I wasn't going to do it myself, I would take it to an automotive spring shop and have them cusom fit something...

I don't have any pictures of the torsion bar but I will take on later. If you crawl under the truck behind the front wheel and you look up you will see a long bar (torsion bar) going from the front suspension to the frame. It has a housing around it at the frame but that can stay on. Look at the housing toward the center of the truck and you will see a bold head stickig down. This is the adjustment screw.

Yeah, give em a call. I think they just don't have them up on their website. I've heard that comment before.
