Thank you. It broke off and I can't find the spring that came out. Is there a way to fix this?

dont own a drive by wire, but imo given that you cant find the spring, and it broke off, it aint worth the while to fix. how much is a replacement? rockayto has decent pricing in my experience. to find a suitable replacement spring iimo would not be worth the while, when one can readily purchase a replacement unit

Operation of the drive by wire throttle body is a good deal more involved than meets the eye. First, when the key is turned to "ON", the throttle plate is driven open just slightly, very quickly, before the key is turned to "START, against an internal stop, and the PCM checks Throttle Position Sensor output for that slight movement. If accepted, plate opens fully as key turns to "START", remaining open while cranking to allow full flow of air into the engine, when start-up firing closes throttle plate down to preset level of idle speed.

This cycle is repeated EVERY TIME the key is turned "OFF" and back "ON". The opening of the throttle plate is done by a small electric synchro-motor; closing is done by a wound-up clock-spring. Fixing these throttle bodies IS done during rebuilding. I fixed my own for the hell of it, didn't trust it completely, and bought a NEW throttle body, which is working well after many thousands of miles.

Just buy a new one. Worth it for the peace of mind.

Well I can't afford a new one. There weren't any at the salvages I have checked. Hopefully I will find it soon.

Did it seem to drive fine? Maybe not super-critical? I'd do some more test drives, and maybe put a silicone plug or bolt or something in it to keep the hole closed. Otherwise, expand the area for junkyard searches.

my uneducated guess is maybe the spring has tension to pull the throttle plate back to center if the motor fails? not too sure, time to hit the google
