I have a 03 X with the 4.0 L V6, I am thinking about buying the throttle body spacer that I have found on ebay. Has anyone bought and tried this? Is it really worth it?

Trying searching the forums for an answer. You don't exactly see a whole lot of improvements with it. But you can search the boards for a better answer

I have NEVER seen any proof that the TBS does anything but drain your wallet. Spend your $$$ elsewhere, IMHO.

I would only use a TBS if I had a carb.

i installed one on my 02 x v6....u notice a lil difference off the line but to get the fulle ffect i guess u gotta get the intake and exhaust with it

Those devices are a waste of money. Read the following quote from a Popular Mechanics article reviewing fuel saving devices from last summer;
THE DYNO SAYS: Both devices reduced peak horsepower by more than 10 percent. The Intake Twister increased fuel consumption by about 20 percent; the TornadoFuelSaver provided no significant change.

Okay, first of all, before anyone else says it, "Holy old thread resurrection Batman!!"

Now that that's over with, I checked the PM article listed above. Nowhere did it mention anything about throttle body spacers. There's a HUGE difference as far as I know between TBS and products like the Tornado. The Tornado mounts in the tubing between the air box and throttle body. So the "vortex of air" is automatically disrupted by the butterfly valve, even at WOT. The spacer mounts AFTER the TB, thus creating flow that's not interrupted.

Now, that's my understanding of the process. I've heard both sides of the story, whether TBS's are worthwhile or not. I'm considering getting one, mainly because a few people that I've talked to who are knowledgeable about cars told me they are worthwhile. However, has anyone on here gotten one and can attest to their performance? I'm specifically looking at the Airraid PowerAid model.

I do know of one long time member that has dyno proof that a TBS does nothing but lighten your wallet. It's your money to waste at will.Feel free to spend it as you wish.

i run one and didnt really see much difference and now im turning it into my nos direct injection plate by drilling it out and mounting my nozzle into it, so it was worth it for me:D:burnout:

Lol, apparently Airraid makes ones pre-drilled, though they only mentioned producing them for their "sport-compact" market segment. Right now I'm working with a limited budget and would like to get the best bang for my buck (lame internal combustion pun? You can decide for yourself, lol).

I've already got plans for exhaust and CAI first, and after that I'm probably gonna go with a bigger TB and upper plenum from Trick Flow. I've also been considering an underdrive pulley setup. That, along with a lift comprised of RB spacers and body lift, and bigger tires. My holy grail right now would be to find a wrecked Mustang GT in a local U-pull-it yard and scavenge the heads and everything to adapt my engine (stupid modular 4.6L engines, can't they all just be the same?) to get the better stock HP and larger performance accessory options. I had a crazy idea to try to fit a 5.4 from an Expedition, and while I guess technically it COULD be done, my X is my daily driver and I don't really have the time or money for an undertaking like that.

If a TBS offers some benefit, I'm willing to find another $120 or so to invest in that, but I'm the kind that researches and considers my options before forking over greenbacks.

Opinions/suggestions on my ideas? And mods, if you'd rather me not hijack this ancient thread and start my own, that's no prob.

Unfortunately, it appears so. I saw a little snippet about it on their homepage. I didn't really research it much farther than that, seeing as how I have an American V8 and not a little Japanese rice burner. Nothing against NOS, it's just when I saw the words "Sport-Compact", I quickly lost interest, lol.

yea ive been talking about making mine into a place to inject for awile now and another 150hp would be real nice!!!as of now i can all ready beat just about any little rice burner around here and with around 300hp and 500tq i think ill give any American v8 a GOOD run for there money!!:D
