Throttle Cable Mod

I haven't really seen anyone talk about this before, so i thought i'd post about it. i see everyone doing this to their ranger. they zip tie the cable so it will open further. Will this work? My ohv redlines at 4250 when i mosh the gas. so maybe if i can get it open more it will get up into higher rpms. what do you guys think?

A while back there was a post here about that i think and i believe it said the extra room was for better control will putting on the initiol amount of throttle. I dont really see how it could add travel but maybe we are talking about a different thing. On my 5.0 there is a setscrew to stop the throttle at a certain point on the engine side. Major

we just had a thread about this over on the explorer unlimited site. this mod has worked on a few 5.0 explorers for sure (haven't tried mine yet) but we don't know abouthe 4.0 ones. you could be the first to give it a try.

I tried it once, dunno if it did anything. I think mine goes to WOT at full pedal already.

No, you shouldn't get higher rpms, but you might get better throttle responce. The tranny is programmed to shift at a certain point within certian circumstances (WOT or close to it). Even if you cable is only letting you get to 95% of WOT you won't see more than 100 rpms higher.

The metal plate went all the way down at full throttle on mine too but did anyone move the setscrew any. how did yall end up doing the mod maybe i just overlooked something. major oh and where is this explorer unlimited site.
