This was a lot of work to ask one question. Hope it works out..

My wife's 1999 Explorer blower switch has only worked in the high position for about a year. Now, that only comes on once in awhile, usually after car has been parked for a day or so.

The air works fine, and the back seat blower works as well. Only problem is blower switch in the front.

Hope you can help. It's HOT in California...

Easy fix, replace the blower resistor pack. It's found on the plenum right near the fan motor. Should have an electrical connector on it with 3 or 4 wires. Get the new one first at your local auto parts store so it will be easy to identify.

On the engine side of the firewall on the passenger side there is a resistor panel that you will need to replace. bit of a pain to get at but that should take care of your probelm. Any decent auto pts store should carry em.
