Anyone else have this problem? When i'm idling in park,
the engine is quiet except for the normal noise. When i'm idling in drive whether stoped or rolling, there is a ticking nose, tick tick tick tick tick comming from the bellhousing from the best I can tell, It's driving me nuts, it only happens in gear, not in park. I'm thinking it
must be something in the tranny since the tranny isn't spinning in park.

Little help............

I'm willing to bet its your ignition. At the back of the engine, behind the intake to the passenger side a little bit, is your ignition(with the spark plug wires coming out of it) That is where your ticking is probably coming from. There is nothing wrong with it, mine does it, and so does some of my friends Explorers. Listen down by it, it is just the ignition sending the spark to the plug. It makes the ticking sound because there is a load on the engine in drive, at least thats the reason I was told. Mine has done it ever since I bought it, changed the plugs and wires, still there, just a normal sound.

as a matter of fact i was racking my brains for quite a while about this very same thing....after i did the KKM and plugs and wires i could hear the same thing and thought that i had screwed it up.....but like you said after sticking my head in there real close i came up with the same thought....glad to have someone confirm my suspisions...
