Hey all I know there are so many threads on this from valve train chatter. What does this sound like in your collective opinion?

Will replace engine eventually but wanted to see if would be ok as a small errands vehicle (not my daily).

Here is a YouTube of the sound:

It sure sounds like lifter tick to me. Considering that you are not too far from a rebuild, I don't believe that it would hurt the engine to run a bit of Seafoam or the like to try to improve oil flow to the lifters.

Thank you!!!!!!

Here's a link to a youtube video on how to rebuild your lifters. It takes some time and attention to detail, but totally worth it. It will cost a pretty penny to replace all of them.

I did this when I rebuilt the top end and it helped with top-end noise big time.

Can you post the link?

I wouldn’t write off a motor for a rebuild for some lifter tick. I’ve heard a few older motors that had a ridiculous lifter tick that just kept clacking for 40k more miles before being totaled.

I’d start with a flush, you never know.

A bad, or out of aligned CkPS will cause the exact sound that sounds like a lifter tick.
