I never knew that 2nd-gens without tilt wheels existed, even in XLS trim.

That would require the whole steering column to be replaced.

That's what I figured yea I was shocked I've only owned one other vehicle with out tilt and that was a 71 f-100 sucks w my wife being 6 months pregnant
Oh well it wa a thought

The tilt steering was standard on all the US models. Chances are very good it does have tilt but someone may have removed the handle. Take a look at the lower left side of the column directly under the turn signal for a slot with a dull metal bar with a threaded hole in it. The tilt handle it literally a bolt with a plastic overwrap molded to one end. You can pick one up from any yard for basically free.

The colum cover is smooth no slot or notch that's whati thought too but it's not ill pull the cover off and see if there's anything there

Its an easy swap if yours doesn't have it

I don't have to swap the entire colum?

I have a 99 Explorer that didn't come with tilt also.

I also haven't seen a single one without tilt.
97 XL here with tilt..

My X is odd I have both E and X code cats but the vin is X and its an ohv motor but the belt diagram under hood says Ohc I think it's Canadian lol
