So my slave seems to of given up on me and its time to replace it. So if I have to drop the tranny, im gonna replace it all while im in there. My question is how hard is to drop the tranny on a 2wd vs the 4wd I see in a few of the right ups on here. Also, how high do I need to lift the truck to get this done as im going to be working with jack stands. Also any words of wisdom are always welcome.

if you want, pm me your email addy. i have a pdf on trans removal for a 4x4, but 2wd wont be any different (just one less drive shaft to remove).
as for jacking it up, you would want it i would think 2 feet between the lowest part of the truck and ground. when you get the trans out, you can put it on cardboard, or carpet, and drag it out if need be.

whoops, forgot you have a 5spd. the pdf is for a auto, so it might be a whole different ballgame. sorry about that.

It is much harder on your back. I have a lift and the job is relatively straight forward. You need a long extension and a breaker bar to get the Y-pipe off. Air & an impact wrench is even better. The long extension is also needed to get the top bolts off the tranny housing. This will be difficult on your back. Tranny is not that heavy. Make sure you read the posts on bleeding the slave, it will save you a lot of time.
