:uk: I know that some of the explorers in the U.S were recalled because of a problem with the timing chain tensioners. Yesterday I contacted a local parts supplier and ask him what I would need to replace mine, to which he came back with the following list.
l/h and r/h camshaft drive assy
Jackshaft chain
Jackshaft chain guide
Jackshaft chain tensioner
and of course l/h and r/h guide tensioner
could someone please tell me if I require all these parts as the job is going to be done by a local garage and not a Ford one as they want to charge me a small fortune

The Garage will also need the ford special tool kit to do the timing on your engine. Without it they will not be able to do the work. If you search on ebay you can find them from time to time to give an idea of what they cost.

do you know if Ford will sell this special tool to the general public or do you have to be a Ford mechanic.
