Does anyone know what percent a stock 02 xlt would have on the windows? And does anyone know what a good tint job should cost?

I've posted this question in the past as well, and the best I could come up with is: either 35% or 20%. The weekend weather in FL has been bad so I haven't gone to get the fronts tinted on my '02 XLS. I'm sure the tint-man will know the answer.

yup - the stock tint is actually in the glass.

But if u tint over tint, I thought it kind of makes in look weird. Also I heard u have tint the untinted windows even more and its hard to match. Is that true?? I had my front two windows and my windshield at the top done for $75 dollars.

I'm going to get my 2 front windows tinted this weekend if the weather is nice. I will let you know what % tint they use to match the rest of the vehicle.

anybody kno how much mirror tint is? and if it's even legal?

you will have to check your local laws regarding window tint to find whats legal or not. It varys from state to state. In Pennsylvania you can tint to your hearts desire on rear windows but front doors and windshield can not have any more then factory tint.

Same with Maryland.

here is the law for our state djhumbug.

Maryland
NO / 35% Net / 35% Net / 35% Net / 1993

Example

4 inches / 35 % Film / 15 % Net / 5 % Net / 1994

A tint brow on the windshield cannot go no lower than 4 inches, 35% film may be applied to the front side windows, 15% light must go through the combined window film and windows for the rear side windows and 5 % light transmission is required on the rear back window and film combined. The year 1994 is the year that the law went into effect.

Monmix comes through again with another local referral.
Between Maryland Muffler and this Perfect Touch, it looks like I'll soon be spending some time up in your neck of the woods. :D
You should be charging these places finder fees. :D

what can I say.
Some one take care of me, I take care of them.

when i was in florida ll vehicles basically are tinted all the way around just cause it is so damn hot there...
Now in mass than god i found a friend with a inspection station that let it slide by since it is totally illegal here in Mass..
I remember back in 1989 when I had a brand new Mustang Gt.
I did the back and side windows 2 layers of limo tint.. you couldn;t even see out the window at night. so yes you can put layer over layer...

I have 20% on my front windows right now. When I get back from Iraq, I'm putting 5% all the way around on top of the 20%. Pretty dark...

I just got my 2 fronts and the windshield done today. They said the factory tint was 15% so that's what they tinted the fronts to. It looks like a perfect match.

I'd like to chime in here.

As a former owner of Limo tint (5%) on all windows minus the windshield, I'll say that it's super hard to see out of the windows at night with it done in 5%. I have 20% on my front two windows and back hatch and 5% on the back doors and cargo area sides. It's easier on the eyes especially while backing and safer for everyone. It's all up to you, but I wanted to give a little bit of input from my side of the yard. Also for those of you in Tampa, FL, heading to MacDill AFB, DO NOT get illegal tint on your vehicle. When I was there, as a SP, I damn near had to write myself a ticket for my tint! Good luck and stay safe.

PS. If you get pulled over, make sure that you roll the windows down and turn your dome lights on. It puts the cop at ease a little bit and you're not drawing attention to your windows. ;)
