Tinting the front driver/passenger door windows

In Michigan its illegal, but if I had a dollar for every car/truck/suv I see that have theyre front windows tinted id be rich. Soon in the next week or two, im taking the glass out of my 95, so I can replace it with the non-privacy glass, otherwise when I get them tinted, it will still be shiny, I want them blacked out.

Its LEGAL though to get the top I think 5" strip on the windshield, but im wondering how that would look without the front doors being tinted....

I see some cars that have literally like 10"+ of tint on the windshield and that just looks ridiculous, id want it if anything tinted where the blue strip is on the windshield.

I would just say F it and do the front windows, just like a few shades lighter so theyre not blacked out, but not clear as day see through; but my dad has a crown vic, got a ticket for his like a YEAR after he got his done, and my uncle has an LS, same thing, had his done DARK for like close to a year, and JUST NOW got a ticket, about a month ago, I had said something about them being illegal asking about it, and he said he just keeps his moonroof open so it makes it brighter in the car, making them appear not tinted...


Anyone wanna give me some ideas? Should I go for it?

(BTW, its on a BLACK 95 explorer, 4 door, soon to have mustang style 5 spoke black rims, basically murdering it out...)

ive got 10% all around, i had the top and bottom 4 inches of the front tinted didnt look to bad but got really annoying after the first couple weeks so i took it off, but ya i'd just do it all 10% its not limo but it shouldnt get you to much of a hassle either

You can go down to 5% and then do double 5% if you want it so dark no one can see in with the power of the sun behind them.

Seen that and wow its dark.

That looks really good, but I want the back windows completely black lol, but what do you mean 2 strips on the front windshield? like top and bottom? That had to look weird lol

That sounds badass, not sure if I need double though LOL. I want it to be comepletely blacked out, and not be able to see in unless you press your face to the glass, but then again it would be nice so nobody could look in to see my subs and whatnot.

But it would be HARD as hell to see out of DOUBLE I bet.
Backing up at night with my "privacy" tint is bad enough haha.

I just wanna go over the blue part, so it mainly would be for looks I guess, the guy who can do it for me said he'd do that for free if I wanted it.


This is a stupid question, does anyone tint theyre sunroof?

i had 10% there was some left over from redoing them, but theres a line on the side of your windshield aslong as its at that line its not illegal, and your sunroof should come tinted?, but if not i dont see why you cant tint it

you thought about useing photo-reactive tint .darkens in the sun and at night it gets lighter .

Never heard of that photo reactive tint, that would be pretty cool, but probably way past my price range.

I just plan on getting one or two 4" aux. lights and mounting them on the undercarriage somewhere so they shine back, when im in reverse so I can see LOL.



But as for the moonroof, yea mine is, but I dont see a point in tinting it lol; well I mean unless you didnt have the pullover shade thing to block it off when you dont want the sun beating in.

My uncles buddy works at a car audio/video type shop that does alarms, tinting and all that, and they have a machine there that laser cuts the tint for the vehicle, they charge about 250$ for all the windows tinted, but he actually just pre cuts the tint, and brings it home, and does it for about 120$ depending on what you want done.

One of my buddies had a Cadillac Eldorado that had triple layer 5% on the rear and rear sides, double 5% on the front sides. During the day, it was DARK, but you could see out. During the night, it was like sitting in a cave :shifty_ey

Another one of my buddies had a Mitsubishi Mighty Max, with double 5% sides and back window, and top and bottom 5% strips on the windshield. I could not see in at most any time of the day.

Some other buddies had single layer 5% on the sides and back of their vehicles. Nice during the day, can't see crap at night.

On my Paseo, I had 20% sides and back, and that was almost too dark at night for me. Currently, it has 15% front and rear sides, 30% rear, and 30% strip on windshield. The sides were done in 15% since the only other options were 30% or 5%.

I have a 5% strip on my windshield on my Explorer. PM me if you want me to post a pic.

Did a search on "tint" and this thread is about the closest I could find on the subject I am interested in. Which is basically, I think my sport-track looks stupid with the rear windows tinted and the others aren't or are tinted less. The back windows are tinted dark enough, can the fronts be made to match with tint or would it look uneven? Any way to make them look even? Thanks.

I think it looks bad when all the back ones are done and the front ones are just plain jane see through. I think it looks fine with limo in the back, and then something light up front, obviously limo tint in front is illegal, but im saying like the 2nd lightest shade maybe.
