im getting a 2 inch lift for 2wd explorer the kit says oversized camber caster shims are required? do i really need to get them? i do drive mostly on the road but would it help to do often tire rotaton? and what would the effects be on the front tires?

if you don't correct the caster, they'll wear down super fast. you should be getting an alignment anyways after the lift is done. most shops will replace whatever is needed to get it back into spec, might just want to tell them they need replacing though.

Bad caster doesn't cause wear.. it causing steering issues (wandering, not returning to center etc)..

Camber causes an edge of the tire to get worn (camber is the top of the tire leaning in or out)..

Toe can cause tire wear.. Once I had almost 1" of toe in and I ripped through a pair of tires in about 100 miles.
