For those of you who have ever done tires urself, you might know about the starting fluid trick or putting a ratchet strap around the tire to set a bead.... well, dont ever do both at the same time.....me and a few buddies were not thinking last night and while setting the bead on a 56 inch backhoe tire we used 2 12,00lbs ratchet straps and a can of starting fluid....long story short, the tire exploded and the straps snapped and the rachet part of one of them got me in the back of the leg and now i cant walk straight.....

Damn! I didn't think that using the fluid would make that much pressure to snap the straps(Were the straps frayed or anything) I have done that fluid part with WD but never with straps at the same time...Now I know not to...Hope your leg is good to go soon

the hook on the one snaped and it cuased the 3 inch wide 1/4 inch thick strap to snap.. the only reason no one thought to take um off was because of the sheer volume of the tire...we all thought it wouldent even work...it turns out the tire ended up with 40 or so psi in it!!! and the tire is a
56x20x24!!!!!! as for my leg its just realy welted up and swolen with minor laserations....the strap was probly moving about 90-100mph...and if i was 4 inches taller it would have blown my knee to hell...just thinkin...it was over 24,000lbs of force.......

update.... legs good and limps gone

Damn! A lot of freak accidents happening......careful people!

theirs no such thing as an accident...just carelessness or shear stupidity...

I think your biggest problem was the volume of starting fluid. Very lucky. It's kinda scary when you look back at all the dangerous things you do, that don't even cross your mind beforehand.

i can barly sleep at night...I have flash backs of many near misses at night but with different endings...kinda like a whole bunch of what ifs....
