Welcome to the forum!

31's are the biggest tires you can fit without having any lift, so in the back you won't be able to get bigger tires without making some modifications.

You shouldn't have any problems in the front with a 5 inch lift and fenders running 33's.

5" and fenders up front will fit 33x12.50s perfectly, you could even fit 35s with trimming.

In the rear you'll need 3-4" of lift to match, I personally think the truck should be level, or the rear higher; not the front higher. SOA in the rear will even it out for less than $200.

well im holding off on the rear right now cuz i am gonna get deaver springs for the rear... but im a poor kid in college so i dont have enough money yet... lol

yea im going for the prerunner look if i had it 4wd id definately even it out. wut is SOA?? sorry if thats a stupid question. yea when i save up a lot of money in a year or 2 im going to kit a coilover kit and fully cage it. im looking mainly for travel not lift... jumping my stocker isnt doin too well lol

spring over axle conversion. like I said, it's only about $200, and you can go back to SUA later without too much trouble if you wish.

With the front up 5" higher than the rear, #1 you won't be able to fit tires in the rear, #2 your headlights won't work, #3 you won't be able to see ****, and #4 it's not gonna handle or ride well.

Oh, and I think it will look like crap, but that's just me.

Just to add, any drivetrain component that relies on fluid for lubrication may blow with the front up that much higher.

its wont sit 5 inches higher then rear cuz the rear stock is high then front so its only like 3-4 inches taller then back... about lubricants and all that u talkina bout brake lines and such cuz it comes with new ibeams and radius arms and new brakes lines and more... Dead Link Removed i may get the performance one... i gotta get it installed there cuz ranger beams r different from explorers... later on im getting either their coilover kit and gonna get it fully caged but for now. yea i may do that SOA setup... how do i go about getting that done and how much will it lift it?

time to take a good look at "the list of useful threads" and other items on this site. don't hesitate to use the search feature.

soa will lift the rear about 4-5"

now i know you are going for the prerunner look, which isnt really all that bad, however. if you see real baja trucks, they sit pretty much level.... maybe just a tad higher in the front... 5" up front and stock in the rear is horrid, dont do it... minimum if $ is an issue, get add a leafs and rear lift shackles liek warriors..... that will make the front only be about 2-3" higher.... the tranny and engine need lubrication and with a 5" upward rake will force fluids to pool at the rear and not allow proper operation or lubrication thus cuasing premature failure on parts.....

ohhhh... i neever thought of shackles or leafs... shackles seems to be the easy route... yea id want the front a tad higher but i definately dont want it "stinkbug style" lol thanks jimabena for clairifying i wasnt sure wut he meant by the lubricants and such... i may look into that... how much of a lift in the rear from stock do i need to clear 33's???

The SOA is an excellent suggestion, I say go with that. One of the more knowing guys will have to say if that will fit 33's or not. If you are already trimming the front then why not trim the rear to match it and that will be a perfect, fairly cheap, prerunner if that's what you are going for. I know the 33's will easily fit in the rear with 4-5 inches from the SOA and fiberglass fenders. Worst that could happen is it comes out level.. which you might really like and I personally think it would look better but if it were to end up level you could put like spacers in the front or something.

are you thinking of trimming at all? if yes, 33s will fit with minimal lift...... however, baja creates situations different from other types of wheeling... what may never rub in a straight line up and down movement blasting through sand washes, may always rub in an off camber rock crawling situation

yea i dont plan on rock crawling so u do have a point there

that looks even to me.... not stinkbug

when i said stink bug i was refering to how alec said he thinks the rear should be higher and i said how i dont like that. i did say i want mine to be close to that one guys explorer i have on the link. i just didnt know how to do the rear without spending lots of money so i was gonna hold off until you guys mentioned shackles

Shackles are $50-60, and SOA is under $200......Not that much of a difference.

Anyway, you can make do in the rear with only 2.5" of lift and 33s, but have to be lucky not to have to trim. 4" or more is ideal. Anthing less than 4" and you'll rub the frame regardless of trimming.

if you can weld, you can do SOA for about $20. $12 Mopar spring pads from summit or jegs and $8 square U-bolts from Autozone.
