Is there anyone out there who is running a tall and narrow tire, such as a 235/85/16? This tire is the same diameter as 265/75/16, just not as wide. What are the pros/cons from your viewpoint?

I'm sure they'd be better as a general rule in the snow.

I ran the 235/85s on my Land Rover & loved them. They look really tall!!!!! They really seemed to cut through the mud down to the hard pan.

they would not be as good on pavement but probably better off road.

Snow isn't much of an issue around here; we average less than 16 inches per year (and some years we don't get any at all). The conditions that I see (mostly) are wet paved roads, mud, and washed-out forest sevice roads (going to/from my favorite camping spots).

I think the 235/85 would look really goofy on the big 3rd gen. What I mean is I dont think it would look proportionate to the big truck. They are tall and narrow. Most of the guys around here might run them on the back of a dually but not all the way around on a SUV.
Just my 2 cents.

Narrower tires = + MPG :)

They are just a little narrower than the factory tires..... I am curious about this option but I would be worried about how it would look.

What size are the factory tires? I think mine had 245/70's when I bought it, is that the original?
I think the 235/85 is an inch narrower than the 265/75.

my factory tires were 245/70/16.......

I bought some tires today. I checked on the 235/85/75 but all they had were 10ply tires meant for one ton trucks. What I did buy was a set of 265/75/16s. I ended up with BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/As. I got them for $474 mounted and balanced which is a little less than $120 per tire. They look good. I will try to get some pics up soon.

I have a set of 245/70/16 Savero GT Radials HTs in real good shape for sale now if anyone needs them........

Good deal. Any rubbing? Are you running hub adapters to kick the rims out a bit? can't wait to see pics.

I do not have any spacers on it yet. I may add some though, I think it would look better if they were to sit out a bit. They have not rubbed so far. I have not driven it far but I did turn around at full steering lock with no rubbing.

This is the only pic i have of the tire width.

Bricks. I didn't have any fun, had to pull a jeep out 37 times. lol It was sometime last fall.

I'm trying to sell my bronco right now and was thinking about getting a Land Rover Discovery. How would you compare it to an Explorer off road and on road. sorry, saw the pics and got side tracked.

It's like comparing apples to oranges. I'd have to say that was one capable summbitch. Mighty Flexy and really powerful. And Solid Axle.

I've had a couple. I like them but they can have many issues. Also I think most are AWD and V8's. Look at about a 1999 model and you can get one with a factory locker.

I was just wondering bc there are quite a few for sale in the area all right around $4000 and I've alway like land rovers.
