Tissue box question

So we are talking about that slot that faces the front of the car and goes no where? I was wondering what the hell that was for...I thought a piece was missing - I'll have to check the manual.

Does anyone have any mods to help out the drink holder? Other than the right hand trick ;)

Yes, buy bottles. You may go thirsty in between quick right hand turns (so you can reach the bottle on the pass side floor) but at least you won't be cleaning it up. As for the tissue dispenser, it is located where it is so the tissues are within reach in order to clean up a spill. Who ever thought Ford engineers don't think of neat ideas.

Hmmm, not really my idea of a neat idea for an engineer of a motor vehicle. Maybe the development of the SOHC engine, but tissues? There's thinking big...

Personally I think it's just about the biggest waste of space in the console. I'd much rather have that room somewhere else.

I got my tissues (Kleenex Juniors) at Walgreens drug store. They were just under a buck per box. I don't use em much as they leave that "Kleenex lint/snow" on the console, but it is nice to have em handy (to mop up your spilled drink from them crap cupholders). The Kleenex Juniors are also available from www.drugstore.com. In my 97, I have that removable ashtray that fits into one of the two cupholders. I use a bit of Blue Tack (soft mastic) to keep it firmly in place holding my change for parking and tolls. I mounted aux light switches down on the (driver-side) side of the console by the cupholders. WHAT A FRIGGING PAIN IN THE ARSE. You have to have jolly green giant arms to reach em, and no chance in hell in seeing if the LED on the switch is on/off. Okay, I better wish you'll a happy holiday and end this post.

They want 5$ from ford for a damn box of tissues!!! They are crazy

damn the spotsylvnia mall is like 10 mins from my house too!!

I could not find Kleenex Junior at my local Wal-mart, grocery stores, or anywhere else, but Drugstore.com has them for reasonable price.

Like somebody said earlier most walmarts have them on the shelves by the cash register

Walmart definately has the Kleenex Juniors up by the registers. Since I had my first '95 Sport I kinda got in the habit of looking at every Walmart just to see if they had them -- and I've never been to one that hasn't (in at least 10 different states). You may have to look around, but they are up with all the little impuse buy crap like box matches, sponges, etc.

On a side note, however, I absolutely HATE the whole tissue thing. From the minute you put that tissue box in there till the day you empty it, you will have 'tissue snow' all over everything. It looks especially horrible against the black plastic of the console it sits in. I see some people like having the tissues there for spills, but I find that I'm better off using my shirt to clean up spills than a tissue. The tissues don't really absorb anything and just serve to smear the mess all over the place. I keep a couple terrycloth towels in my console for messes -- far better for cleanups.

am i the only one that likes having the tissue box there? if you have a runny nose or something, its just real convenient to reach down and grab one instead of fumbling in the glove box or center console.

I've had no problem finding them at my nearby Wal-Mart. I agree that they can great when you need one, but the "tissue snow" issue bluevolume mentioned drives me nuts!
