to those who have done body lifts...........

Yeah, I had just posted a question about the o2 sensor, because I am about to order it. I didn't know that the 91's only have 1 sensor unlike everyone else (i guess) who have 2. I have a 1/3 off cupon at carparts and can get it for like $30 for the Bosch.

Thanks
Chris

cool go for it! Yeah. I have 2... i think 91-93... or maybe 92... just have 1. Bosch makes them for ford... so thats the way to go.

Hey Chris, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I'm pretty busy in the last few days. Yes, I completely agree with you about the waste of the extension that comes in the kit. Problem IS, noone has an extension for the '95 & later models yet. I doubt they'll ever really put it on paper either due to the lack of demand for a kit for the late model Explorers. I'd like to build a kit myself and take all the profit, but, there wouldn't be much profit. I looked into the tooling to make the right extension and DAMN it. Would cost around $20K to 100 pieces to start with. That wouldn't even be paid for after the first 200 kits...Mark

32's

lsles,

I am planning to get 32's, is the difference really that bad? I mean, did you REALLY lose power or did you sorta lose power? If so, I will skip the tires and use the money for other mods.

Matt

Apples and Oranges

2001Sport, you've got 50 more horsepower than Isles4ever and a 3.73 rear instead of his VERY anemic 3.08. I am also thing you maybe already have the 16" tires instead of his 15"? If so you are already at a 30"-31" equivalent tire, and you'll be going up less in size than he did. He could put his stock tires back on, you could go up to 32's, and still out-accelerate him. All assuming stock engines, of course.

Going to 32's is not going to affect you NEARLY as much as it did him.

I have 29's on 16's, but I get your point..thanx ;)

If you have 16" rims, the stock size is 255/70r16, which is a 30.1" tire, not 29".

Yeah, you're right. I measured them, but I forgot about the flattening of the tire under the weight of the vehicle.

:)

I could see how the extention pieces woun't be to profitible, expecially if it isn;t in mass production, which unfourtantly there aren't too many explorer owners lifting theirs.

I still have acceleration in me... i can be pretty quick off the line, but you do notice it in the mid range RPM's; nothing some mods couldn't fix though.

What's with all the bashing on Isles for? Just because I got screwed from Ford on my explorer having 3.08's and 2wd doesn't mean anything. I killed a Boxter the other day! .... he stalled out at the light :D (kidding about the whole thing). So the 2001's come with 50 more horses? I really got screwed then. Hmmmm all the mods i can do so i can beat a 2001.. where do i start?

Chris

I dont know anything... but I dont think the 2001 came with more horses... whats probably going on is the diffrent engines... OHV and the SOHC.... its 160 and 215hp right? Of course... I know nothing about the new ones... except that I wouldnt trade my 94 for one! :) I wouldnt mind an interior swap though. :) And I want rounded headlights... I dont like these rectangle things... oh well.... anyways.. what were we talking about? I dunno...

I hope you didn't take anything I said as "bashing". It was just a statement of fact; you have a 160hp OHV with several miles on it and he has a 210-215hp SOHC: 33% more power and a newer engine. That's a huge advantage. Plus the 3.08 rearend is a much higher ratio than a 3.73. That's another 20%+ difference in available power just from the rearend ratio alone.

The fact that he has much more power available to him is just simple physics, nothing more.

I apologize if that came across differently :o

Nah, I was just kidding. I have big fat gears, a couple of miles on my engine :) , and big tires... i know I am slow. Just wait until I get my new Ferrari I'll be unbeatible j/k .

I like the extra power, it really helps. I was used to a Ranger manual 3.0 so my 2001 was very refreshing.

GJarret, stock is 205hp and they only offer the SOHC 4.0 right now, Dead Link Removed but I have the KKM so I probably will get a few horses here and there depending on which part of the powerband I am in at that particular moment.

lsles, ate a V8 Limited on the way home from work yesterday. I also ate an M3, but I am not sure if he was trying. He stayed with me though. It's fun beating those guys isn't it?! Dead Link Removed

I plan on getting a Diablo ;)

Speaking of horses... you guys should check out my compression ratio thread... my car just hit the dyno.. and I can say the results were pretty disapointing....
