I was given 1995 Ranger It has a V6, AC, 4speed, 4 wheel Drive.The problem is with the 4wheel drive, it just wont engage, WHERE DO I START?
I have not experience with 4 wheel drive. just looking for a few pointers as to what to start looking at first. The Guy that gave me the truck said it worked, till one day a few years ago, he got a flat tire and had to put the wrong size tire on it and drove about 100 miles, and has never worked since.

does it have manual shift or electronic shift 4 wheeldrive? cause if it is electronic it could just be that the shift motor is stuck or dead. you say it wont engage but do you mean the hubs or the transfercase? put it in 4wd and have someone watch the front driveshaft as you drive VERY SLOWLY....so you dont run them over....if it is turning then chances are the hubs arent working...if it isnt turning then chances are the transfercase isnt going into 4wd. just something to start with. good luck!
