I just installed a James Duff 3" ranger lift that I got off craigslist. I put it in my 93 xlt. I just put my truck on a ramp to check the flex, It barely moves. I also have f-150 springs in back and some custom shackles in back. The back end buries the tires in the wheel well and the front looks like it is on flat ground. I even disconnected the swaybar in front. Is this common to not see much action up front? Are the Duff ranger springs extremely stiff or is this a good way to go.
I thought the front should be soft and the back would be harder. I thought the f150 springs would make the back really stiff too.

the shocks are for a 3" lift and the brake lines are custom long lines from my local shop.

The TTB won't flex too much stock. Check the site for the mod where you add some F-250 shock towers and longer shocks. Be aware the more flex you get out of the front the more likely you'll be to slide that passenger side axle shaft out ( there's a post for a mod on that too). Have fun :D

take out ur shocks then try it

could you link the mod for the passenger's side axle thing please? wasn't able to find it

I get maybe 8" of travel with the Duff Explorer coils. Another limiting factor is the length of the radius arms.

There's a lot of different coil options out there, almost too many.

ok, I just re-read the thread..

You can get quite a bit of flex from those 3" or so Duff coils. I am running Duff 3.5" coils with the 2.5" duff drop brackets. With the f-250 front shock buckets/hoops I had enough suspension travel to actually pull the coil spring out of the mount. That would only happen when the radius arm bushins were soft/worn some.

I have since replaced the stock short radius arms with extended arms with Ballistic joints but even before that I had quite a bit of flex.

If your not getting travel, they something isn't right as those duff progressive rate coils should flex quite a bit. Once I had enough shock travel I could get the tires (33") to hit the air box at full stuff.

EDIT: Here is a pic with the short arms and even stock shock mounts.. It still had decent travel.
