Regarding my '91 Explorer, I built my SAS project using the OEM Explorer upper and lower coil spring mounts. I've heard of people using the Cage springs. Do they have the same inside diameter at both ends at the Explorer springs? Are there any other springs that can be swapped in place of the Explorer springs, like Cherokee springs?

Thanks.

Rob

i would like to know also.

Wild Horses Early Bronco Springs work. I think most of the SASed explorers on this site use them. They have 3.5" 5.5" and 6.5" options.
Cherokee springs work, but since they are much softer. I'm not sure who has done that except for SSDD who hasn't been on the site for a while.

XJ or early bronco.

Do the early Bronco and XJ springs have the same inside diameter...meaning will they seat in the upper and lower Explorer mounts? I ask because the EB spring mounts are different and a while back I tried to use a XJ coil spacer to lift my '91 Explorer but it wouldn't fit the TTB springs.

Thanks.

There is a writeup on installing XJ coils on an Explorer on this site somewhere. I've read it before, but can't remember where I saw it. If I remember correctly for a 2" lift you'd actually use 4" XJ coil springs because they will compress from the weight of the Explorer. I'm going to be picking up a set of XJ coils and giving them a shot in a few months just to see how much they help.

Anyone know if is there a difference in there XJ and ZJ springs?
